7/17: 'Octomom' Nadya Suleman at Castle Megastore

LOL!!!! I heard this on the radio on the way home today. First, it struck me as wierd that Octomom wrote a book (at that point I thought it was a book, because they were talking about her "signing" event). Next, I thought the title of the "book" was odd, "Octomom Home Alone". Then, I realize this "signing" is taking place at Castle Megastore! For those of you who don't live in the Phoenix area, Castle is an adult boutique chain store, and Castle Megastore is what it sounds like. Now, I realize it isn't a book she is signing, but an adult DVD. Oh noooooes!

There are so many things wrong with this, I can't even start... Including the fact that this event took place today, apparently, and was being advertised this evening (or maybe not - perhaps that would be normal for adult DVD signings - do they only happen after dark?) MORE laughter ensues!

Nadya Suleman, better known as "Octomom," is bouncing back from bankruptcy with her first adult DVD, which she'll be signing on Tuesday, July 17, at Castle Megastore in Phoenix. The mom of 14 will be promoting "Octomom Home Alone." It's disgusting what she has resorted to of late, last I heard she was paid $5k in a strip joint, shocking photos too I might add.

She gives Motherhood a bad name....shame on her. She thought she'd make a fortune having a litter of kids. That didn't pan out, so she's showing her true colors. After the bucks...no matter what.

Hell, she gives people in the adult entertainment industry a bad name.....

Honestly, I just don't get it. I'm not judging her way of earning an income so much as wondering why anybody would pay for what she is selling, at this point. As well as shaking my head wondering who is taking care of ALL THOSE KIDS while she is off on her signing tour?

Exactly. I have nothing against adult entertainment. I just can't figure out how she would be marketable at this point.

First off, the vid is out there on the web for free, if you look for a few minutes(whole thing, not just the preview).

Next, this is common practice in the adult industry.........signings, conventions, guest appearances at high-end stripclubs/gentlemen's lounges,etc.

She's also done the rounds on the daytime talk shows to promote her video, including a not-so-friendly visit with the "ladies" of the View.

With the acceptance of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, who BOTH rose to prominence after their respective sex tapes were "leaked" , and others, she's simply trying to follow in their footsteps to make a buck.

I actually am one of the few on her side. (Female, straight, just fyi)

I may not agree with how many kids she had at one time, I have 7 natural kids and 4 step kids. So I can't really judge.

But u can bet your ass, if I had to sell mine to provide for my kids, I'd do it.
Of course I have actually been in such a situation. So maybe that's why I "get it ".

It's not rainbows and unicorns for everyone. In my situation, I had a kid, to young to work, and crackheads mother. So I used what I had to get what we needed.

Electrions, mechanics, even corner store clerks, sell the use of their bodies. Why can't she?

Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, she is not. For one, neither of them has 14 children. What she has chosen to do, IMO, is not what a Mother of 14 children should be doing. I tend to think the children should be getting a little more of her time, than in between DVD signings and devoting her time to trying to become a porn star.

Considering the army that has come out of her, ...well and the armies that have gone in.
She should be an absolute trainwreck.
I can think of girls who have never had kids and still do not look as good.
Good for her, laugh all of the way to the bank.
She just using what she's got is all, better than being a banker or a politician.

I keep seeing her stupid name pop up and I wonder, is it our fault for watching her or is it the Media that keep talking about her. I think it is somewhat the same thing just like any other.

It only matters if we want it to matter.

She was broke and about to lose her house.

Give her a break. She kept her promise about not going on welfare.

I find that I am on her side as well. While I think her original decision to have so many kids was ignorant (to say the least), she has always been adamant about not taking taxpayer money (medicaid, food stamps, etc.) for what she admits to now as a severely foolish decision. She recently began receiving some government aid and is continuing to do what she can to minimize the amount she needs (I know folks with 1 kid who won't do that) and is working on a number of things so she can be self sufficient again soon.

While I would not want to participate in the activities she is doing to make money, I do commend her efforts in trying to stay off the government dole. She is highly intelligent as well. Common sense may be in shorter supply if I just judge from the outside looking in though.

The kids are already here...nothing can change that. But she is trying and for that I have to be on her side IMO.

There aren't too many mothers I know who wouldn't resort to prostitution or something if push came to shove if it means providing for their kids.

Hey, trust me, I get it when some women HAVE to do things like this to survive or provide for family. But this woman is already famous and has already made plenty off her fame, and I understand it doesn't last forever but there are plenty of other things she could have done to make money... When you're already famous, you can use that to do pretty much anything. She chose to do this. She was not forced. I saw her on tv with Dr. Drew less than a year ago and he (or producers of his show, whatever) gave her a years worth of nanny service for her kids... It's been less than a year so she literally used that free time from that gift to make porno. The op thought it was a book at first... Maybe she could've done that?? Maybe she could've made her own brand of some baby product or pregnancy related thing like lamaze classes? There was plenty she couldve done with her name that wouldve been successful.

Now dont get me wrong. I personally don't care what she does... But please, lets not pretend she was forced into the situation like so many other lower class women are. She must just be the kind of woman who is into that sort of thing, and she didn't care what it did to her image or how it would effect her kids life. Oh well. Big whoop. Her kids have it better than most, even though its not saying much, there are much bigger problems. At least she is brave enough and honest enough to say "this is what I am. I could've easily made money other ways, but what can i say, I love porn and I get turned on by the idea of people seeing me naked" or whatever. Good for her.
