Having read the article I must say that in my opinion there is more than an element of truth in it.

Islam is diametrically opposed to the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and thought etc and preaches total submission to the will of Allah.
This is further complicated by various interpretations of exactly what constitutes the will of Allah.

That is not to say that Muslims can not be a productive and positive part of a 'western' style democracy etc.
Many Muslims take a more pragmatic approach to their religion in exactly the same way the vast majority of people who consider themselves Christian do.

To be honest I think the thread title is slightly misleading.
Nowhere in the article does it say that Obama has 'embraced Islam' or that it's ok for America to do the same.

I think Obama's administration has tried to say that it is far more acceptable or preferable for the Islamic extremists etc to gain power and / or influence through democratic means than by bombing the crap out of innocent people.

Regardless of how much I may dislike it, or indeed anyone else, if Egypt chooses to hand control of their country to the Islamic fundamentalists then we, 'the west', has no right whatsoever to interfere.

It's when extremists try to spread their barbaric beliefs and even impose them on other's that I personally have a problem with them.

Yeah, meanwhile keep sourcing wnd and all the "good" news sites right. Don't believe that article, here you go.

www.washingtonpost.com...

www.care2.com...

www.huffingtonpost.com...

Everything is an evil liberal plot if it goes against your beliefs right? The fuzzy thinking, brain dead logic, and utter lack of comprehension on this site amuses me to no end. But it's all a good thing other wise the overlords of ATS wouldn't be able to make money off the lunatic fringe.

In actuality, I know exactly what story the KOS was talking about. I'd actually posted on the larger thread here at ATS on that very story and I thought/think the whole subject there is despicable. The politicians in VA who came up with that idiotic idea ought to be recalled from Office as an example to others.

Calling it Rape is hyperbole to an extreme though and a deep insult to ACTUAL rape victims. That is where sources matter for how something is presented. Sources mean everything. Al Jazeera will report the same story as The Blaze, but they'll likely appear as nearly different stories by the time editors at each organization are done and it goes up. In fairness there, Al Jazeera IS where I go first for details of something internal to a nation in that region. One can't argue with who has the best sources for that kind of story.

I suppose if I waned to know...er.. Well, You know, I can't think of much I'd go to KOS for, any more than Air America when it was on the air. Then again, I'll bet far left folks don't check Hotair or Theblaze daily either.

I read the title, then I follow the link to a poorly written opinion piece that claims muslims can not have a democratic society because... welll no reason they just can not. The Muslim Brotherhood is the Republican Party of Egypt, conservative and religious with a right wing fringe that says all kinds of crazy #. Yet because they Muslim they are bad. Brilliant.

Could not have said it better myself.

I have wondered when the extreme right in America will wake up and realize they have the exact same agenda as extremist Muslims.

The phrase 'willfull blindness' comes to mind.

No matter what the source of the delusion, no political movement that exalts the Koran can peaceably coexist with the concept of freedom at the root of Western governance. Islamist notions of democracy are constrained by the strictures of their religion. Radical Muslims reject the humanistic values that gave birth to modern Western government; the self-evident truths regarding everyone’s inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are just so much infidel heresy to the Islamists. There are no inalienable rights under political Islam, only submission to the will of Allah.

First off..."The Washington Times" is as nutty a paper as there is..

en.wikipedia.org...

It was founded in 1982 by Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon

Secondly..An unsigned editorial in the Nuttiest paper there is? When authors don't even want thier name associated with a crazy article, you know it is bad.

Third...Obama embraces Islam: If Islamism is OK for Egypt, why not America?

Ever hear of "freedom of religion"?...Is it only a sacred principle when it applies to Americans?

Is Egypt supposed to move toward democracy only as long as they can persecute all followers of Islam and deny them the right to participate? Maybe we should ship them some Christians?

Fear mongering, lies and ignorance are the pillars of such nonsense.

For those that enjoyed the Washington TImes "Obama Embraces Islam"...you might also like "New Obama slogan has long ties to Marxism, socialism" by the same anonymous editorial from one of the worlds most dishonest and partisan outlets!

So I'm a racist really now since when is Islam a race?

Yep that race card sure gets played too much on this site

When they have nothing that whip that little card out.

Why couldn't you?

Different news sources can be very valuable to understanding the different perspectives of a particular issue.

Judaism - Christianity - Islam are ALL ENLILITE religions so yes there are differences but there should be levels of cooperation between the religions. They ALL were influenced by Abraham who was guided by LORD ENLIL (ANNUNAKI)

I call "lies" to how this is being perceived. I do not believe he is calling for Americans to live under Islamic religion, he's asking us to understand them ( I hope) he could never enforce Islamic rule, our laws over exceed Islamic laws. They the Muslims also need to embrace America and our laws if Obama wants us to live in peace.
And no more honour killings here in America, 1 is to many, and I've heard of several.
