Give me some facts as to who is keeping them in the third world? No one is holding these countries down, its their own doing, just like Greece has gotten itself into trouble for living the high life for too long. Look at Asian countries just a few decades ago were mostly embroiled in war, but now they are the fastest growing region on Earth.

No one is holding them down per say, but what the developed world has done is put them in a state of constant stress and both illegal and legal duress. In fact in a way I agree that it is there doing, but no more then it was and is in the doing of every other nation peoples and continent when faced with the same dilemma.

And in the Asian countries such as China would be one example, but they were faced with the same type of problem, they only came out of it mostly due to there strong nationalistic instincts, which was manifested in there Communistic approach to things back, well at least communistic in name only. But in short they came out of it and are a fast growing region on Earth in part due to the fact that they tried to keep western and any other nations out of there lands and there business.

In Africa they do not have that option fully, and the superpowers nations both Western, Asian, and whoever and whatever else, have a vested interest to keep them under there thumb, because if they ever became one solid nation, and if they put all there petty squabbles and got rid of all there petty warlords and kicked to the curb all there bought out leaders then they would have much to bargain with and say in the way things are run and in the overall trade deals going on there.

Um, So ya, they may be sitting on a gold mine and on fertile soil, but when that soil and gold is owned and operated by other entities and corporations that do not life there, then really they do not care, and would only care when it effects there bottom dollar. It is only human nature to be opportunistic and to only care about you and yours. As such its not an effective policy, to let those who have no stake in things rule and dictate the way things will go.

Which is why things like the UN do not really work all that well, in theory and on paper it sure sounds like a good idea, but in reality it is basically a persona non grata more often then not. It is Ineffective, as it would have its own interests over that of the actually people who live there. And so you got the dilemmas of today. In all no one is keeping them down, but they are locked in a cycle which is not entirely of there making, and sending aid every year may help, but if you do not root out the root causes its basically just establishing endless cycles of dependencies on other powers and other entities, which again would not have there best interests at heart.

But yes in some ways it is there own human failures that brought them to this, the seven deadly sins of mankind. Wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony, of which mostly greed seems to be there downfall, and they would not be the only ones.
Oh no not by a long shot, even the civilization you are so proud of and think your race or creed created well it is amazing how changing a few things here and there, and then the whole thing will fall like a house of cards.

I am pretty sure I have said it before, globalization while nice and dandy is in some ways is not the route to go and it should definitely be kept in check no matter who says what or what they stand for, because words like the wind come and go. In fact if you go by it alone the whole globalization model, it is in effect like your trying to build a house, but you build the roof first and the foundation latter. Only if you never have to life in that house would it not be a problem to do it that way.

Again hence why things like the UN and other personas non grata are just not that effective, and would be prone to degeneration and corruption. Because ultimately they don't have a stake in it, but what they can get out of it. To say it again, ie...They will in all likely hood never have to life under that house or roof. It's not a bad idea and should be done to an extent, the whole one world government thing. But that is to say it does not have flaws, oh no definitely not a flawless concept
its got as many holes in it as swiss cheese.
