Well I was stationed in Grand Forks AFB, ND. But we were away from home over 300 days a year.

Tanker and transport crews switch aircraft all the time. Sometimes they even fly planes from a different base than the one they're assigned to. The one that crashed in Kyrgyzstan was assigned to McConnell AFB, but the crew was assigned to Fairchild AFB.

I know about accident but I don't know that the crew was from other base than the aircraft.
