WEll, I don't think it's hype, but I don't think it's cost-effective, either.
I don't know if you've ever done a formal threat analysis and quantification, but you'd have to have to make some interesting assumptions (in my
never-humble opinion) to place a nuclear bomb going off in your neighborhood (or a general exchange, which is in everybody's neighborhood) as one of
the top ten most likely threat scenarios.
However, as Fiber Optik says, if you have the money and you're pretty sure you've ameliorated most of the other, more likely, threats, then why not?
Finally, if you haven't read "Pulling Through" by Dean c. Ing, you might want to get a copy.
