Why can I star some threads, and some I can't?

Joined yesterday, I know I can't flag til I have 20 posts, but why can I star some threads and some I can't? Thank you

Also I can't see the option to star your comment?

Certain forums do not have the star function enabled. Such as this forum for new member introductions, or board business and questions forum.

The majority of forums do indeed have the star function enabled however, so it's really limited to only a few particular forums.

I am not sure if being a new member limits this function, so perhaps a mod can clarify this for us.

Certain forums (like New Members and Board Questions and Business) are not available for starring. To any of us. Is that what you're seeing?

i think ats wants to keep from star and flag farming so the boards like this one have it disabled
good idea stars and flags should be for posts that contribute something
