The OP must think Iran can "project power" which they CANNOT. They only have missiles.

Heck even Russia only has one outdated aircraft carrier.

Well Putin and Co have not shown they are not preparing in readiness.
I reported on other threads about the increased patrols of their Blackjacks and bears off the North East and Scottish coasts-Putin restarted them.
I also reported on the billions that have been earmarked for bristling new kit while every other country has drastically cut budgets.
Then there is the building of 1000s of new nuke shelters in the Moscow region.
They have new subs, new missiles and the French are currently building an aircraft carrier for them.
I also reported how they had been caught tracking our subs in order to get info.

The deployment of their current flagship naval vessel complete with planes helicopters and support vessels to Syria after making it clear they will protect their interests there is also a worry.

Yesterday it was revealed that Russia had supplied Syria with cruise missiles against the wishes of the West.

In my opinion we are not going to see them taking any action whilst over uk airspace-they have no need to do it since they have lots of targets imbetween.

It also has to be remembered that it is the Russian state duma elections this weekend.
It is no coincedence that there is saber rattling now.

Medvedev has recently issued warnings again about the missile shield.
He does not want to be upstaged as he performs his last months as president by super Putin.

I have read that the bible predicts the invasion of Israel by Russia.
Nostradamus also tells of the beginning of ww3 following a rogue missile.

Whilst Russia is in the middle East, they are reportedly trialing some new planes due for delivery to the Indian air force. They have said any tests will be carried out away from land borders.

Their track record for testing new rockets and missiles is not very good.

As someone who grew up in the cold war and was taught at school that Russia had all these nukes targetted at UK cities,I was relieved in 1992 when things changed.....but they did not really change much at all.
The bear went to sleep for a while, but when she woke up,was more dangerous than ever.

Russians have approached UK airspace countless times in the past few years and never been stopped by anyone

Your very link says they were intercepted, so how can they not be "stopped by anyone"? Also, they never fly over Germany, but round Scandinavia and yes, the Norwegians often intercept them as well.

The link says the were escorted off of the west coast of Scotland, near Stornoway. Stornoway is a few hundred miles from the heart of Scotland, and since these bombers can launch nukes from 000's of km's away, they could easily launch from the Faroe islands or mid North Sea and decimate our country.

Don't under estimate the power of Russia. The UK would stand very little chance of keeping our country safe.

There will never be Iranian military planes in British airspace.

Iran has no Air Force.

They've got some old American F-14's they can't get parts for to fly. And they've got a couple other 1950's planes that aren't even fit to be displayed in museums.

Why do you people think Iran has a military? They don't.

Russia isn't a threat either. They get a little money from Europe for their oil/gas.....France alone could beat Russia's Air Force with the little fighter UAV's they made with Russian energy.

6th Generation Fighters=smaller and without humans. Russian fighters will never see them. Russia's Air Force is no threat to England.

Seriously, what planet do you live on?

England would be destroyed in a day if Russia meant business. The UK defense network couldn't handle the Russian military, It would be like saying England would be under no threat from half of the US military strength. Even at 50%, the US could wipe our little nation off of the planet...

There is no room for patriotism when denying ignorance...

What planet do you live on?

Aside from a nuclear exchange, in which the UK (stop flipping between the UK and England btw, their not interchangeable) could also easily wipe Russia off the map, how exactly would they overwhelm us? Their Navy is tiny, our ships are better (fact, not blind patriotism - they have asked the French for help in learning how to build good ships) and their airforce is no threat to us seeing as any attack would invoke Article 5 and they would have to fly past dozens of hostile countries to get anywhere near us. Their Army is redundant if they can't even get anywhere near us.

Exactly how could Russia overwhelm us? We've been to war with them many times before and did quite well every time, for a poky little country...

Intercepted as actually met in the air in close quarters.

In an actual hostile interception, the Typhoon can engage from quite some distance away and those creaky old Russian bombers wouldn't even get round Norway (who would also shoot them down - being in NATO and what have you).

Russia is no direct threat unless she has taken down the entire of Europe first. We're the last line before America, who certainly wouldn't sit on their hands if Russia started rolling over Europe.

Thanks for wresting us back to reality. Often I really do wonder why people go off on these fanciful little jaunts into fantasy land. I mean, there's being informed and there's being (er) lost in space.

I say this with the greatest respect to all those who are under the delusion that the UK borders both Russia and Iran and / or the c. 1,500 – 3,000 miles of land, sea, mountains, NATO and certain death are a mere inconvenience to be overcome like a walk in the park.

Regards
