Landmark Case May Put an End to Priests Grooming Young Children

I am completely astounded that there hasn't been more press about the recent victory of JGE against The English Province of Our Lady of Charity. The new ruling states that the religious institution itself is responsible for the actions of those "employed" by them.

A woman known by her initials JGE, recalls how her and others were being groomed to accept sexual abuse by Father Wilfred Baldwin. In this case Baldwin was sexually abusing children as "punishment" for misbehavior. JGE states, "The nuns knew. He was allowed to take any child and rape them. It was always my fault. He would even make me give money afterwards, tuppence in the poor box. He said God had told him to do it."

Prior to this case, Catholic priests weren't considered employees. This exempted the Church from being financially accountable for their priests' actions. The catch is that this ruling will also enforce some major policy changes within the Catholic run school systems.


Opening the Door for Equal Opportunity Employment

As an equal opportunity employer, Catholic schools would eventually no longer be able to select teachers based on their faith or sex.

Local government would also have more authority to review and regulate school curriculum on any allegations that children were being abused or groomed for sexual conduct. In other words, children wouldn't be made to feel God disapproved of them if they didn't submit to sexual advances. The Diocese is expected to appeal the decision.

Unfortunately this sort of thing goes on in every religion and race on the entire planet Earth. I am glad people are taking more steps in protecting earth's children.
