The china syndrome is impossible, the corium melting through various elements in sand, soil, rocks etc... Would stop and disperse the heat. Nuclear reactor have no where near the amount of radioactive material to worry of any such event.

Sure but the amount of heat coming from the reactors is negligible.

There is a lot, and I mean a lot of atmosphere to heat up. As said in a previous post, the steam releases over the years of production would be a better way of heating.

think of fukushima as a volcano of poisonous gas.whatever way the wind blows, stuff will die.
the radiation is high energy particles not low energy particles.
if it was low energy particles, yes it would heat up the air but the planet is to big.but once the poles melt there will be no major currents in the oceans.only minor ones.salt build up and stagnant dead zones.the shoreline will be salt accumilators.the fish will migrate to the river outlets.evaporation will slow and the oceans will heat up.the salt will accumilate on the sea floor.the weather will be controlled by the seasons.the oceans will die and the air will be dry.then we die.

Did you read the Thermohaline circulation bit? I don't Think the amount of radiation leaked could begin to effect the worlds oceans in any meaningful way however a rise of 1 degree worldwide in ocean temperature could effect certain ecosystems and the reactors have been leaking for awhile. That radiation has been circulating around the world and is sitting at the bottom of the oceans acting like a heater, water traps heat until it dissipates evaporates into the atmosphere. Problem is how much genetic damage can life take due to radiation while staring down a theoretical ice age gun barrel?

What about boats propellers creating friction and heating up the surrounding water ever so slightly? Negligible.

They are not dumping water into the ocean that is above boiling as it would turn to steam.

If a meteorite hit the ocean, the speed and the friction along with the blast would still not raise the temperature by 1 degree.

Remember we have an abundant number of underwater volcano's, that release magma into the ocean on a regular basis.

True that about the underwater volcanoes however remember that once the magma is ejected into the ocean it is a one shot deal and the heat dissipates into the water which then dissipates\evaporates into the atmosphere where as some nuclear material is like a gift that keeps on giving....thousands of years.

I'm still wondering why they would need a malfunctioning plant to heat the atmosphere when the numerous functioning power plants already do that. That's really the crux of the matter.

They could build sarcophagi around the reactors like they did in Chernobyl to seal them off. The Japanese are quite capable of handling the logistics and have the technology required to seal the plants the question is why haven't they? (and yes they could have done it right at the beginning for those that say it is too late to fix it).

They are unable to build sarcophagi "around" the reactors, only "cover" the buildings. The cores have melted DOWN below the buildings base. Think about how many pipes, conduit and sewer lines are down there. Covering the buildings is like trying to put a lid on top of a boiling kettle. The radioactively contaminated steam will just escape around the "lid" or thru the ground and even bed rock water channels. Until these slag piles stop emmitting and producing gasses (like hydrogen, which explodes) it is a wasted effort to cover the buildings and they know it. Thats why they have_not_done_it. There are a ton of reasons why this is an entirely different scenario than Chernobyl, so stop comparing the two on that level. Its confusing to others who don't understand.

Thats why they call it a "syndrome".

The corium slugs will remain thermally hot down there for years, nestled in their cocoon of slag and bedrock. The heat will dissipate even more slowly than say a 100 ton lump of lava because the corium generates its own heat. Its like a crucible filled with molten metal that is self heating. You can't turn it off.

I think maybe as well that periodically the "magma" will continue to "poop" out like "pillow lava" does underwater around Hawaii, releasing new bursts of radioactive steam in the future. Look for reports of sudden increased Rad. readings on site or even down the road in basements, ground water, school playgrounds, mall parking lots, etc. Long, long time (years?) before these beasts quiet down.

All those Fukushima Nuclear reactors and their cooling ponds full of nuclear rods.....went CRITICAL and you CAN'T stop it.

The United States told them to burry it. Japan said no. Why?

Japan's been beaten like a poor mans dog over the centuries and they don't care the fallout will kill Americans or the world.

Chernobyl is small potatoes compared to whats happened at Fukushima.

It's being allowed to burn because nobody in the global scientific community knows how to stop the chain reactions when they have been started.

The best humanity can do is slam some sand and lead on top and call it a day. Look at Chernobyl...Did they leave it burn because of the ice age?

I lol'd

really, you think nut job gold sacks wants to save people? what about build-a-burger? red sheild.. I mean rothschild?

In all seriousness I just don't think people here are getting the big picture at all. I could have told y'all 'we are all greece' a month ago, and did. no one listens, and thats why come hell, highwater or cold, I don't care anymore. save yourself.

Hmm the Chernobyl sarcophagus was designed just 1 month after the disaster. Construction started 2 months after the meltdown.

Can they not afford it?
