video from Cusco Peru, shot about 10 days ago
however, the video doesn't show an impact, just a fireball streaking across the sky

enjoy

No meteor.

It's a jet with it's contrails lit by the setting sun.

With an invisable plane being flown by the jets?

well I don't see one anyway!

I don't suppose they get many jets lit up by the sun in Peru, to make it news worthy anyway!

It's there, they're hard to spot at cruising altitude.

Sunlit contrails aren't rare but they need several conditions to be right.

It's just a shame the media don't know what the hell they're looking at.

I think that assumption that it's nothing more than just a jet contrail is possibly somewhat premature.

Here are a couple of screen shots of the video located on Youtube.
Ignore the large "N" as it's simply a watermark placed onto the video.

It's quite obvious that there is a solid "object" located at the tip of the contrail.

In the next image, it's easily apparent that the object is embedded within the contrail and that the contrail in fact begins just in front of the object. If it was just a jet contrail, the contrail would NOT be generated in front of the wings.

Here is an enlargement of the 1st image ... note how the object is showing evidence of atmospheric heating immediately in front of it as would be expected of an object re-entering the earth's atmosphere.

In this enlargement of the 2nd image, this "heating effect" in front of the object is quite clearly evident.

So is this simply a jet contrail ? I don't think so as there is not the slightest hint of a jet preceeding the contrail. In my opinion, this is more than likely a meteor or some other space junk plowing through the atmosphere, causing the very visible heating effect directly in front of it as it compresses the atmosphere to very high temperatures.

I'm with Chadwickus. It's a plane and contrails. I've taken photos of "invisible" planes myself. All you see are the trails. I'll try find one and post here.

These sunlit contrails have been misidentified numerous times before, there's a few threads floating about here on them, here's one from 2009 with good discussion on it (except 1 person):
