Yes, amazing. Well deserved S&F. All species on this planet are constantly evolving. Only the humans seem to have stuck with their bats on their way out of the caves. While still thinking they are the "chosen ones", and everything else was created only for the very human pleasure of senslessly killing and destroying. Sad.

These are NOT new Species but new kinds within a species. A bat is a bat is a bat. A slug is a slug is a slug, an Octopus, well you get it...

Thread should be renamed, misleading at best!

Awesome! I love this. I was just reading the other day how we only know about 40% of whats in the Ocean and I think this just brings us closer to knowing our earth. The more we know the more we cherish the more we care! Awesome post man.

It's still a new species. If it's a species within a species it is still a species. Same goes for everything else. Don't be a troll.

Actually, they ARE new species within the same Genius.

The Taxonomy goes like this:

Kingdom
Phylum
Class
Order
Family
Genus
Species

Some couldn't even be subdivided into a new species.

Found via remotely operated vehicle about 1.7 miles (2.8 kilometers) under the Celebes Sea (see map) in 2007, the four-inch-long (ten-centimeter-long) creature turned out to be the first member of a new family in the Polychaeta class of segmented worms.

There's a whole new family (technically order by their quote) in town boys.

Amazing, truly amazing. Just when you think you've seen it all the Earth unveils all sorts of new wonders. Thought the all female race of lizards was the most interesting. Thanks for the great post.

How neat!!!
(I love critters ^_^)
I will have to confess though, the Yoda bat is really cool even though he looks like a wino, lol

Those were absolutely amazing. Its just a shame that as we're discovering such amazing creatures we're rapidly destroying the ecosystems that those animals and plants flourish and one day they will be gone.

I just want to point out something in terms of the music. Great choice but the name of that particular piece is wrong the version you placed up was actually Requiem for a Tower not requiem for a dream, Requiem for a dream is slower and less intense in it's build up. Requiem for a Tower has that amazing epic build up and was a commissioned rewrite for the Lord of the rings film the Two Towers and mostly used in trailers.

A piece of music you might be really interested in if you aren't already familiar with it is Freedom fighters by Two Steps from Hell, It's been used in a few movie trailers including the recent Star Trek film.

I'd say it's rather amazing when it comes to these types of creatures. The purple octopus and the extremely small lizard ( i forget the name ) are my favorites. I'll have another look, thanks for putting in the effort to make this ! I enjoyed it.

Excellent Swills! Nice touch with the music too.
Love the Yoda Bat, such beautiful colours.
Ninja Slug! Wish i could fire hormone tipped love-darts, that'd help keep the bed warm in winter.

Heres a favourite from my screensaver slideshow

Behold. The mighty Nudibranch (Gastropod)!
