Social medicine anybody? I know a lot of people in the US complain about the heavy gouging by our private medical sector. Obamacare has hit a brick wall simply because there isn't the money in the system to support handling the paperwork!

The balance between social and private medicine has been a big issue around the world, with most of Europe adopting the social method. Neither method seems to be working during this worldwide financial meltdown. What is being experienced in the UK is also happening in Canada where many people who can't wait for their surgeries have to come into the US and pay "private" prices for their healthcare.

It's all part of globalization. Americans can't get surgery in the US. Medical tourism. Canadians can't get surgery, medical tourism... If I can't get surgery here, then how come people from other countries can get surgery here? Likewise, if they have to come here, how come I can get booked a surgery on the other side of the planet?
Globalization. And more than it being a socialist issue.

I come from a socialist kind of state, and until recently, after the beginning of "hyper-corruption", there were no problems to see a doctor and get surgery, if necessary.

And frankly, just look at the amount of money being put in the military every year. Having everybody get their needed surgery would barely scratch the surface of their budget.

It's all part of a game.
Nonetheless, it is outrageous and should not be tolerated anymore.
