Harp Seals from Canada found as far south as N. Carolina

Harp seals from Canada are showing up in U.S. waters in greater numbers and farther south than usual, and biologists want to know why.
This year, we've had four sightings of adult harp seals in North Carolina, which we've never had before

A decade ago, harp seal sightings off Maine were rare, said Lynda Doughty, marine mammal stranding coordinator for the state Department of Marine Resources. The numbers have picked up the past few years, and this year there have been 40 documented sightings — more than double the number spotted last year

With all the animal death reports, I thought this was more heart warming. I do find it odd as to the cause
of their migration further south. Climate change or lack of food maybe affecting the pattern.

I dont have a great explanation for it.. Its very interesting. Ive always believed that animals are more "in tune" with the planet than we are.. We should pay more attention to them.

maybe they can sense the earth changing from within...

who knows but agreed, they would be more 'in-tune' with nature as we have been misguided from our true presence in our universe.

Problem is North Carolina Fish and Game will start selling licenses so some good ole boys can club them.

It would be best for them if they don't taste like chicken.

Ice caps melting could explain this.

The answer is simple. They're following the food! A similar thing happened with the 'mysterious' disappearance of the Sea Lions at Pier 39 in San Francisco... only to turn up in Oregon about a week later. It was shown that they were following a large school of fish along the coast... much to the char-grin (and embarrassment) of many doomsayers who claimed/believed the Sea Lions were sensing an impending catastrophe.
