Oil prices pull back sharply on rumor of Gaddafi deal

(Reuters) - Oil prices pulled back sharply from earlier peaks on Monday, with traders and brokers citing rumors that Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was seeking a deal with rebels to secure a safe exit from the country.

The rumors appeared linked to an unsourced report in an Arabic-language newspaper, trade sources said, but this could not immediately be verified.

Best to verify the source.

Espacially in these times of war in Libya.

Anything that comes from ANY 3rd party sources or the libyan State media or even the beast buddies best be verified right now. They have this incredible propensity to lie and to tell half truths.

The beast is grabbing at any straws to remain alive, any straw, and use every trick in the book.

The day when the beast becomes honest is when his mass murdering head is served on a platter. Dead man tell no lies.

What's the precedent for that? I can't think of any, but feel free to let us know who you're talking about.

Had to come back to this after reading the news on Iltasanomat (a Finnish news source). Maybe Y-Net news was correct this time. Maybe other news sources are using Ynet as a source, I dont know. Al-Jazeera is reporting that the rebels decided not to meet up with Gaddafi for him to resign.

Sorry, no, this is a bit confusing, from the Al-Jazeera blog:

Libyan state television has denied a report by Al Jazeera and two Arab newspapers that Colonel Gaddafi has sought a deal with the rebels that would see him step down with certain guarentees.

It was reported that a Gaddafi representative made the proposal to the opposition's so-called "National Council" based in Benghazi. The council apparently rejected the offer.
