Iraqi Says Gulf War U.S. Pilot Is Alive
By Christine Spolar, Chicago Tribune Foreign Correspondent

WASHINGTON, March 12, 2002 (Chicago Tribune)US intelligence agents are working to corroborate new information from an Iraqi defector that an American pilot shot down over Iraq a decade ago is alive and imprisoned by Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, government sources said.

New evidence about the Navy pilot, Michael Scott Speicher, surfaced in late January. President Bush and top advisers in the State and Defense Departments were informed by intelligence agents that a one-time high-ranking military adviser to Hussein, who defected earlier this year, has information that the American pilot was alive as of January.

Speicher, who would be 44 today, was classified killed in action [KIA] from 1991 until January 2001. The CIA, the Navy and President Clinton reviewed what were considered serious gaps in intelligence analysis concerning the Speicher case. On January 10, 2001, based on evidence that the pilot survived the crash and was seen in Iraq, Speicher was reclassified as missing in action.

I really hope that he is alive and that he can be freed when we remove the current regime. I cant even imagine what the last 12 years of his life has been like, he has probably been tortured and mistreaten. The story says that the Iraqi defector who says he is still alive is very credible. Can you imagine how he will feel when the US soldiers show up to free him??

More than you can think.

I just hope that he will be alive and that the Irakians will not kill him in retaliations.

This is just too sad. In movies they always say: NO MAN WILL BE LEFT BEHIND NO MATTER IF HE'S DEAD OR ALIVE...Well sad but true only movies. I think that the Navy pilot probably killed himself by now if he has been tortured and mistreated for 12 years(!!!).
Great Government we have

he's probably being held in a cell in a WOMD lab.

No, seriously, you think we would have either found him, or his grave....

Sure, as " they found " those who are still missing in Korea and Vietnam ! They'll never find him because they don't care about it.

It's not important since these soldiers have been left behind.
Kissinger is responsible for that.

Did you know in Russia, the US pow/mia issue has a secret level who's going above their nuclear secret level ?

Many businessmen, policy makers, reporters and others peoples who tryed to find the true have disapeared or " dyed " in conventional accident ( cars-crash...etc... ).

On that matter, the US and Russian govs ( and probably the Chicoms, North-Koreans and Vietnamese govs too ) are working " mano a mano ". One side ( the US ) want to keep secret that they abandonned their soldiers and the others sides ( USSR, China...) they held them and didn't return these soldiers to the US.
