UN set to adopt report praising Libya's record

The UN Human Rights Council is set to adopt a major report hailing Libya's human rights record -- despite moving to suspend the Arab country's council membership amid an international outcry over attacks on civilians.

The report shows countries applauding and commending Libya as they note "with appreciation the country's commitment to upholding human rights on the ground."

Even Canada "welcomed improvements" Libya made "in its respect for human rights," according to the report...

The article says the report is scheduled for a vote before the Geneva-based 47-member council March 18.

How is the U.N. not a total waste of time and money and other resources? Holy crap, they are such a corrupted, impotent, inconsistent body of politicians ... well, I suppose that's a big part of the answer. They are a great big group of politicians.

When it comes to things like the UN, and Nobel, and etc ... How can they be taken seriously when they give awards to the very biggest offenders in any given category?

Absolutely disgusting.

The thing about the UN, IMF and other organisations is that, they are meant to do the complete opposite of what they promote. IMF makes countries poorer and the UN, well what good have they done and how do sanctions work? Its pointless and China opposes sanctions and it just makes a country more determined and more self sufficient(Iran). The whole world needs a "reboot," good job you get floods approx every 5000 years, the whole world is messed up.

Qaddafi: "Did we win the human rights record recognition?"

General: "Yes, Sir..."

Qaddafi: "Phew, I was worried about what the rest of world thought of us, now pass the ammo."
