Bitter Cold in Dallas, TX and Birds are Dropping Dead from a Bough

This is not a fearmonger or doom/gloom thread; rather, it is intended to show the sad reality of harsh weather. This morning we, yet again, had a blast of arctic weather here in Dallas. Unfortunately, I had to get out in the mess. While I was out, I saw several dead birds along the road ways (mostly underneath tree overhangs and power lines). Anyhow, When I got home I got the heater cranking and then glanced out at the winter wonderland. As I did, and much to my surprise, I saw a bird drop dead out of a tree overhanging my driveway. Anyhow, here are a couple of pics I took...I personally "signed" the second one in the ice.





I hope everyone stays warm and also remember....not everything is a conspiracy!

Wow....I'm in Louisiana, and it has been FREEZING here too....having sleet/snow as I type this. It doesn't happen much here, but this is the second ice storm in 2 weeks.

New Mexico had the coldest temps in the country last week---out of the entire US---including arctic Alaska.

The weather this season is unbelievable. I live in Boston,MA and this is one of the worst winters on record here and that is saying something for new england, every other day we are getting hit with another storm.

It reminds me of a D H Lawrence passage:

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself."

I was thinking the exact same thing when I titled the thread.

Notice the strange patch of snow over Grand Rapids Michigan today Feb 9 around noon CST.

Same behavior is occurring at SW side of Dallas.
