Looking for some info

Sorry if wrong spot, but thought this was more an aeronautical question.
Is there any website that will allow me to search owners of planes via registration numbers in australia and where they are based? I need to find if 1 or 2 certain planes were flying on a particular day. I think they are little Cesnas.

Cessna's would probably be privately owned, it may be hard to track down a location by the tail number. In fact I know of some instances where an aircraft has been sold numerous times and the reg never updated, so its possible you could find the tail number registered to John Smith in Salt Lake City, but its actually owned and operated by a private company in Australia now. Cessnas usually do not travel long distances so it migh be worth it to research local small runways and airports local to you, and go and do a visual inspectionof each plane.

Might strike gold that way. Personal investigation always reaps more rewards than online investigation.

Ok... first off, ZS-JRA is a South African registered plane - ZS being the nationality code for that country.

N-codes i BELIEVE are North American. I stand to be corrected here.

With ZS-JRA, the last 3 characters are just the aircraft's personal identification, much like a car's license plate.

As for N747RE, I would guess that the -RE would indicate the state or city it's been registered with. Any help with that one?

Hi lavenlaar, there is IIRC a search function on the CASA web portal but you may need to work in the industry and have an ARN No: (which I do). If I get time I will but given these are foreign registered aircraft it's probably a dead end anyway. May I suggest you ask someone over at Airliners.net for help here. Im sure it can be tracked down. May I ask why the interest? It would seem one of the two aircraft is involved in weather research.

i've just started a thread here and its actually both aircraft in weather modification.
The only definitive proof i may get was if they were conducting these tests on these days.
