snoopyuk,

Why wouldn't people and the news be of and anarchial nature when our governments are out to destroy the people instead of being by the people and for the people.

Would you have people make up a good news report to fix things? It can't be glossed over. We might as well know the truth and face it. We have no power to stand up against it now as it has gone so far and gained so much power it's like trying to stop the unstopable force. Sheeple don't have the stopping power and that is what we've all been forever almost. The news media has been lying to us for so long and given smooth things and keeping what everyone should know away from them is one reason people lay asleep and dumbed down. The trouble runs very deep we are in. It soon will be seen how deep and awful it is.

Truthiron.

Outside of Spain, Ireland and Greece none of the cuts have happened, they have been announced and are in the pipeline, there was a recent poll that indicated that 70 odd % of the UK population thought that the cuts had happened after the Tories got in and hadn't affected themselves, they will become enlightened after April.

Its born out of tough times. These things come and go.

"ATS" has not become a pro anarchist board.

ATS members are simply reacting to the events going on around them.

There always have been, and always will be, people who want to stick it to "the man" - and at the moment it appears to be fashionable to jump on board without weighing up the whole consequences of doing just that. Its easy to advocate rioting until your car is torched or your house is torched or your loved ones are injured in the middle of it.

Its easy to decry the police until someone is breaking into your home at 3am, or someone has just carried out a drive by that killed your firend, or someone intends to hurt your family or yourself when you may be defenceless, or you need assistance of another kind on a serious issue.

Its very very easy indeed to be an armchair warrior/anarchist.

Its not so easy being out there and in the mix of it.

Anarchistic resentment exists. It needs an outlet for expression. As a means to an end, well, how many educated and able pariahs we got around here?

It's got nothing to do with being ''coddled and protected''.

It's got to do with having an organised structure to society; take away any power structure, and humanity will die out.

There are hardly any ''victimless crimes''.

Privatising government functions is the last thing that we want to do.

This is what makes me laugh about anarchist, and other 'small-government' proponents; they want to do away with government, which would just lead to private corporations being in control of our lives.

The ideal system is for everybody to contribute to society, and society uses these contributions to provide services for the population.

The problem, of course, is that this is relying on the government being benevolent, but due to the ineptitude and inertia of the general population, governments are allowed to act in any way they want.

The people only have themselves to blame if their government is screwing them over, as the people have the power to prevent this, but adopt an ''I'm alright Jack'' mentality, and let their government walk all over them.

If people were genuinely more interested in society as a whole - rather than being interested in what benefits them personally - then governments could not have any unreasonable control over their citizens.

If this is true. There needs be a change in the distribution of power. Otherwise boys, please do continue

I would like to know why you are using the word anarchy as if it has some sort of negative connotation and goes hand in hand with violence. It is simply having no hierarchical form of governance...state, whatever you like. Replace anarchist with libertarian socialist in that case.

This is not an anarchi, what you describe, this term is often misused. I am anarchist - because I´m against haitred, violence and hierarchy. Learn about what anarchy means. This term is made negative, because people with power are afraid of those who can think themselves and don´t need big brother to tell them how to live their lives.

But we all know that the cuts are going to go through in Britain and other Western countries. There's no alternative, if there is no money.

It's these disgustingly selfish people who want something for nothing, and expect everything to be laid on a plate for them that I object to. We ( as a society ) have been living beyond our means for a long time, and now the chickens are coming home to roost. I, for one, am glad of these austerity measures.

The problem with all these protests, is that these people weren't complaining during the 'boom' times in recent years, and everything was fine when they could comfortably afford the latest Playstation.
Now that the economy has inevitably gone 'tits up', then they decide to throw their toys out of the pram. Talk about closing the stable door after the horse has bolted !

I'm sure I'm not the only one that finds Western people protesting about austerity measures, to be rather nauseating. It's this ''me, me, me'' materialistic culture rearing its ugly head.

Surely anybody can see how wrong it is for people - who through an accident of birth - were lucky enough to be born in the tiny minority of countries that have the highest standard of living and services in the world, whinging about these services being slightly worse off after a few cuts ?

Western countries - post austerity measures - will still have a far higher standard of living than the majority of people in the world are able to benefit from.

People need to stop being so selfish !

As ATS grows so does the threat it poses to the PTB.

ATS will eventually be seen as a greater threat than wikileaks.

Stay tuned, informed and FREE for as long as possible.

Something people dont seem to understand is that we essentially live in anarchy now.

There is absolutely nothing preventing anyone from doing anything they want to do. There are consequences sure but there are consequences to your actions with or without government.

If government went away tomorrow would you run amok raping and pillaging and murdering? No, you wouldnt. Neither would 98% of the population. That 2% who would? Well, they're doing right now despite government.

Government is here in all of our lives doing whatever it wants. You are not safe from anything it claims to be making you safe from. You are not secure because it is here. You are just as vulnerable as any one of us from several million unknown possibilities that continue to exists and threaten your life with or without government.

The notion that government does anything at all to protect from anything at all is an illusion.

There is nothing, I repeat: nothing, at all preventing somebody from poisoning your food, kicking in your door, gouging out your eyes and raping your skull, ramming their SUV into a school bus carrying your kids.

They're already doing it. There's an equilibrium to everything, so they do it in a way that ppl dont care and go back to their stupid lives. Theres much more to life than counting from one to ten, or in base 10 for that matter.

You cant buy milk without crap in it. All the meat is injected with crap, vaccines are full of crab. Herbicides and pesticide, flavour enahnced 663, preservative 551. # is poison, but wow so convenient. Noddles are cheap yeah? Did you want some cash? Come play my game sucka

reply to post by Fractured.FacadeFrac, my point exactly. Freedom of speech is self explanatory. ATS has a tough job. Inciting violence is against the law, and thptb know this. Anarchy is what "they" want in order to clamp down on all forms of expression in the name of justice. I don't trust the attorney general as far as I can throw a grand piano. Our job as reasonable men is not to overreact to the bombthrowers. To promote rational discussion, agree to disagree and live to speak another day. Let's not give them a reason to muzzle free speech.

Freedom is a vice, a crime waiting to happen, revolts against agendas, passive intolerance and defiance... Words and pixels on a screen transmitted across a free network open to hundreds of millions of potential subversives, detractors, dissenters.

No wonder they want to stir-the-pot. Create anarchy and mayhem, breaches of security and threats where justification for censorship and control can be brought into law.

In the end that is what it is all about.

Controlled freedom is now "vital" and essential to national security.

The real provocateurs have an agenda.

Its not anarchy, this is a knowledge based community that gives people their 1st Amendment rights to say whatever is on their minds. Some things people post here might be radical, but nevertheless your gaining some type of knowledge especially if these kinds of subject matters are new to your vocabulary.

I think a tune by the great Ween sums up the feelings of the people.

Also a great soundtrack to aforementioned "awesome riot footage"

The problem is that there are a lot of people who are failures, and angry at their own short-comings.

Anger, in this case, stems from feelings of inadequacy

Rather than face up to these short-comings, they turn their anger against ''the man''.

The people who riot, and support the rioters, are just abject failures in life, who refuse to face up to this fact.

There's no first amendment rights in much of this world, certainly not in England where these riots occured. Untrammelled freedom of speech is not something we enjoy. Because with unlimited freedom of speech comes responsibility to exercise that right with care & caution and that's where some ATS contributors are losing focus.

I think that those who incite others to commit crime ... as people here do ... those who encourage others to riot, who support rioters in their aims & objectives, those who think the physical attack is an acceptable substitute for reasoned debate ... well, I think such people are as guilty as those who commit those crimes in the first place. The fact ATS allows such views to flourish, without let or hindrance, is nothing short of disgusting. This place lately has become little more than a hate site. I wonder how the advertisers view this place.

And, no doubt, some of the contributors here who are so keen to man the barricades are as privileged in their upbringing & as financially comfortable as some of the little Lord Toffee "radical students" who threw fire extinguishers from a great height at policemen, those who defaced the Cenotaph and urinated against Churchill's statue.

Utter hypocrites, the lot of them.
