4 Scenarios for the Coming Collapse of the American Empire

www.alternet.org

A soft landing for America 40 years from now? Don’t bet on it. The demise of the United States as the global superpower could come far more quickly than anyone imagines. If Washington is dreaming of 2040 or 2050 as the end of the American Century, a more realistic assessment of domestic and global trends suggests that in 2025, just 15 years from now, it could all be over except for the shouting

I found this article of real interest and thought others might enjoy it too. The article says that historians would look ack and see the invasion of Iraq in 2003 as the catalyst for the downfall of the empire. I think this is wide of the mark. I would not be surprised if the dawn of US focused Wikileaks is considered in retrospect as the beginning of the end. Purely because this is the first time that many people from America and other nations have definitive proof that there is no free society in the USA. Unless you are a corporate megaco with billions of bucks or an individual of the same then the USA does not care about you and will use you for the benefit of a small group of people.

I think the most major indicator that the USA empire is over that we can see tangibly now is that China is the worlds Number 1 consumer of power. All influence in the modern world stems from energy spend. USA is on the decline as world leader.

Bye bye Miss American pie!

What are your thoughts?

Fantastic article, thank you for posting. I agree that Iraq will not be seen as the catalyst, it will be something much closer to the year 2010 than 2003. This timeline and analysis fits nicely with the Fourth Turning theories, I think I will share it on those forums.

I also agree that it will likely be a right wing candidate that becomes the face of the revolution first. The right wing is the side with momentum right now, the left wing is just sitting around kind of stunned that it all went to sh*t I think.

It is worth noting, that in every other armed Fourth Turning conflict, the side in power has employed the most powerful weapons available to them, every time. Those weapons now include possibilities not mentioned in the WWIII scenario, which in this article ends without a single casualty.

China Kicks your sorry azzes in 2025.

Jean Dixon the "US Prophetess" who foresaw the assassination of JFK in 1962, predicted it back in about 1969 before she died.

Want to read it in quote?

"The biggest danger the world faces in the future is Red China. When peace negotiations have seemingly concluded in the first quarter of the 21st century, Red China will show her teeth.

In the year 2025, Red China will have reached an economic and political stability sufficient to forge ahead and become the great conqueror.

In that year Red China will march into Russia. Conquer a large part of the USSR's northern area and will not stop until it has marched into Finalnd, Norway, Sweden & Denmark, stopping at the German Border.

It will not invade Western Europe. Bye that time however Russia will also have expanded her direct sphere of influence. It will no longer be limited to the countries of eastern Europe but will now incluse Libya Ethiopia, Iran & much of Africa.

This war of conquest will lastt from 2020 - 2037".

Source:- "Jean Dixon, My life and Prophecies Bantam books 1969 page 179".

Interestingly, she was prediciting or calling china "Red" (i.e. communist) BEFORE Mao Tse Tungs revolution began on 10 October 1911 and they went communist after WW2

It didn;t have to work out this way - you can thank your oil fascist leaders choices for that!

.In 1945, at the end of WWII, when the Japanese surrendered, General Douglas MacArthur became the military Governor of Japan. MacArthur's assistant was Laurence Rockefeller, one of John D's four grandsons. Just before the Japanese surrendered, the US had been preparing for a massive invasion of the Japanese home islands and had stockpiled vast supplies of weapons and munitions on the island of Okinawa. Enough weaponry to invade Japan. What ever happened to all those military supplies?
With Vice-governor Laurence Rockefeller's assistance most of them were sold to the leader of Viet Nam, Ho Chi Minh, for something like one US dollar and Ho’s "goodwill." Why would Laurence do that? That was US taxpayer property. Ho Chi Minh had been an ally to help fight the Japanese during the war. But the Chinese had been an even greater ally, so why didn’t the weapons go to China? Those weapons might have prevented Mao Tse Tung from taking over China just four years later if they had been given to China. But that wasn’t the plan. From where did Mao get his weapons?
In the 1920's an insider secret became known to a few people. It was published in an exhaustive world resources survey book written by a renowned world-traveling geologist named Hoover, who later became a US President. Not many copies were printed and few people read the book. The secret was that one of the world's largest potential oil fields ran along the coast of the South China Sea right off French Indo-China, now known as Viet Nam. But in the 1920's the method of deep sea oil drilling had not yet been developed. In 1945, the French still held small oil-poor Viet Nam as a colony. Laurence knew about Hoover’s book and the off shore oilfields. The French could be driven out if the Vietnamese nationals, lead by Ho Chi Minh, could be supplied with weapons. Did the French know about this?
Laurence Rockefeller thought he could trick Ho Chi Minh by offering him the weapons to drive out the French and then in return Standard would take over the as yet undeveloped offshore fields. But in 1954 when Vietnamese General Giap finally defeated and drove out the French at Dien Bien Phu, Ho reneged on the deal. Since by then, everybody including the French, the Vietnamese, the Japanese and the Chinese had all read the same Hoover resource book and knew there was a vast supply of oil off the Vietnamese coast. Many people have wondered why the French have been so recalcitrant toward the US ever since French President Charles DeGaul wanted to pull out of NATO in the mid-1950's.
Ho Chi Minh would not let Standard Oil simply walk in and walk off with all the Vietnamese oil. So as before, any country which owns the oil is branded as "communist" since they hold the oil as "community property" and won't allow private corporations, like Standard, to develop the fields and steal the oil. In this case, young American's themselves where "hired" directly to be the "fascists" to go fight the Vietnamese "communists."
The whole 20 year Viet Nam “war” from 1955 to 1975 was an oil scam. And all during the "war," Vietnamese General Giap fought the Americans with weapons he got from Laurence for a dollar. Did you ever wonder why the US, despite, greatly superior weapons, and the loss of 57,000 Americans and half a million Vietnamese, never won the "war?" Ever wonder why the US President issued such strange “rules of engagement” for the American troops that made sure they didn’t win? Ever wonder why Henry Kissinger, a personal assistant to Nelson Rockefeller spent so much time in the Viet Nam/Paris Peace talks which never went anywhere but simply dragged on for years. Maybe winning the “war” wasn’t part of the plan of the Empire of Energy. Maybe the timing of the “war” was more important.
In the 1950's a method of undersea oil exploration was perfected which used small explosions deep in the water and then recorded the sound echos bouncing off the various layers of rock below. The surveyor could then determine the exact location of the arched salt domes which hold the accumulated oil beneath them. But if this method were used off the Viet Nam coast on property Standard didn't own or have the rights to, the Vietnamese, the Chinese, the Japanese and probably even the French would quickly run to the United Nations and complain that America was stealing the oil, and that would shut down the operation.
In 1964, after Viet Nam was divided into North and South, and the contrived Gulf of Tonkin incident, several US aircraft carriers were stationed offshore of Viet Nam and the "war" was started. Every day jet planes would take off from the carriers, bomb locations in North and South Vietnam, and then using normal military procedure when returning would dump their unsafe or unused bombs in the ocean before landing back on the carriers. Safe ordnance drop zones were designated for this purpose away from the carriers.
Even close-up observers would only notice many small explosions occurring daily in the waters of the South China Sea and thought it was only part of the "war." The US Navy carriers had begun Operation Linebacker One, and Standard Oil had begun its ten year oil survey of the seabed off of Viet Nam. And the Vietnamese, Chinese and everybody else around, including the Americans, were none the wiser. The oil survey hardly cost Standard Oil a nickel, the US taxpayers paid for it.
In 1995, in a multi-hour BBC TV documentary broadcast about the oil industry, the president of one of the oil companies, a spin-off of Standard, stated, ".. It was quite a coincidence, that we finished our offshore oil survey on the very last day of the war, just as the last helicopter was leaving the roof of the embassy in Saigon." A coincidence?
Fifteen years later, after North and South Viet Nam were unified and all the dust settled and most people had forgotten about the "war," the Vietnamese decided they needed some cash and would allow offshore oil exploration. They divided up their coastal area into many oil lots and let foreign companies bid on the lots, with the proviso that Viet Nam got a cut of the action.
Oil companies from 12 countries put in bids. Norway's Statoil, British Petroleum, Royal Dutch Shell, even Russia, Germany and Australia all put in bids. But when those countries drilled in their oil lots they all came up with dry holes. Only the "American" company had gushers and since 1990 has pulled billions of dollars out of their Golden Dragon, Blue Lotus, and White Tiger oil fields in the South China Sea off Viet Nam. Coincidence? Were they just lucky? Or did they know something those other oil companies didn’t?

The collapse of America started when "planned obsolescence" became the byword for American manufacturing; All brought about by corporate greed in the mid 60s.

We used to make quality machines out of real steel that would last a lifetime if properly maintained.
We took pride in our products.

Now we make "Happy Meals"

IMHO its exactly that kind of arrogance that has led to the parlous position the USA now finds itself in with its allies and enemy's alike, and wikileaks is just 1 week old!

What will it be like when all the cables are made public?

Will team USA have any allies left?

We for example, just found out that you had our PM stabbed in the back by his own party...not unlike the demise of former PM's Harold Holt and Gough Whitlam - who mistakenly thought they were elected to make decisions in the best interest of their nation and its citizens, not to just be their US Overlords azz lickers, as you rape and pillage our country of all of our citizens of their God Given natural resources and wealth, so hat your spoiled brat kids, can go to college in a fricken mazzerati on OUR dime.

I'd say by the end of this wikileaks bidness - the rest of the world will be in no mistake about what the REAL US is like - your nation will be a small group of Pariahs that no one in the rest of the world wants to know about.

America's extreme arrogance is about to end up biting it on the very azz, and you'll have zero allies left, and a heck of a LOT more enemys, all united in their determination to see you all brought down a peg or two.

Most of us are thinking that its frickenwell long past due, to be frank.

A little lesson in humility is just about exactly what the mighty USA needs right about now.

Being the rest of the worlds bootlickers for a while, might be the best way to achieve that, - who knows with a bit of luck your soon to be Chinese overlords, might even deem you worthy of a bowl of rice once a week.

Personally I think they would be wrong....a bowl of rice a week would be WAAAAY to generous, because I have a much lower opinion of you lot, than your enemies the Chinese and I'm from one of your allies nations!.

Americas about to find out what being the worlds pariah nation really feels like.

Al the more hope and change to you, under "president Odumbo"

For the wikileaks fiasco - he's responsible and he & his administration should be impeached..

Cheers from the Aussies who are might ticked off!

I definitely agree with you on the first part. America has been feeding its own ego WAY too much without actually advancing as quickly as we think they are.

However, the rest of the world has always known what the real US was like. The average citizen may have had a distorted view until now, which is all part of the Wikileaks psy-op, but the leaders of other nations have always known. Wikileaks is now the public excuse to stop backing US.

This should probably rate it's own thread, but I'll put it here because it's the same subject.

Skeptics who continue to assert that the economic plight of the United States has been overstated need not look further than the Pentagon to find out just how wrong they are. CNBC has learned that the Pentagon is currently playing out “war games” pertinent to an American economic meltdown.

According to CNBC, “The Pentagon is planning for real economic threats to America.”

...Ever since the crash of 2008, the Defense Intelligence establishment has really been paying a lot of attention to global markets and how they could serve as a threat to U.S. National security interests. At one upcoming seminar that we’re going to see here next month, they’re going to be taking a look at a lot of the issues … [including] the use of sovereign wealth funds to manipulate markets, currencies; nation state economic collapse, sovereign default, nation state instability; U.S. Allies’ budgets, deficits, national security infrastructures.

Similarly, the Army has launched an operation called “Unified Quest 2011” in which it studies the “implications of ‘large scale economic breakdown’ inside the United States that would force the Army to keep ‘domestic order amid civil unrest.'” The Quest also trains the Army in how to “deal with fragmented global power and drastically lower budgets.”

good riddance...

This article speaks about the United States and world powers in general as big business, which indeed they are.

I for one, as an American with Native American heritage want no part of corporate America and would be happy to see it go.

If China, or India, or Dubai wants to be Las Vegas, let them have it. With the money comes the political corruption, the crime, the environmental impacts, the population booms, and the WHOLE LOT.

Why anyone would see this, and want it for themselves is beyond me. Sure, it looks shiny, but you won't like what you get when you get what you've been asking for. There are a number of apparent reasons that EVERY super power eventually fails, and falls. History has taught us these lessons, and some of us have retained nothing at all.

China has tainted itself with its greed already.

Hopefully, when our money goes, our industry will go with it. Maybe our franchises will move on to new real estate.

Maybe there will be a new appreciation for the craftsman and the artisan, in turn showing our children the importance of learning an honest trade. The farmer, who works for his meals rather than stealing it from his neighbors could be in high demand once again. It would be nice to see America feeding itself.

In the following generations, our kids could be learning horticulture in the 7th grade rather than Economics. The air could be cleaner. American pride and courtesy would be in full swing, and the family unit would become stronger.

With the money goes the McDonald's, and the Wal Mart, and the Disney and Hanna Montannas. REAL American Small Business could have a fair chance at an HONEST living again.

What is being 'rich' anyway? Everyone i know has a flat screen TV, none of them are happy.

The problem is the Wallmarts and McDonalds will just become easy targets for venture capitalists and foreign investment. They will still exist, still exploit our diets and wallets just be owned by foreigners which means the profits will all sail away from the USA increasing the economic problems for the country.

If you do not believe me just look at a couple of examples in the UK, power and rail - most of which have become foreign owned in the last ten years.

Also look at Philip Green a UK national domiciled in Monaco (tax haven) where his tax contribution to the UK is minimal yet he takes tens of millions of pounds out of the UK economy every year.

Trust me it will not encourage more small business it will just encourage more large multinationals just foreign owned and taking dollars from your economy and being shipped home.

It's not arrogance... it's economics... China gains it's power from consumers... therefore, as long as they need consumers, they are not going to conquer ala 1969.... it's a completely different world since then.

Not to mention, we are on the verge of a brand new revolution in manufacturing...

Check out 3d printing and how it's going to put many factories out of business... and put many Americans BACK in business.

It's sad to see so many of you excited about this prophecy, what's wrong with you people? Yes I'm a proud American and the fact that some of you are foaming at the mouth over this is sickening. How can you claim that were such a bad country when some of you are practically wishing doom and gloom on us? It's aggravating to be stereotyped as the typical American when again others not from the U.S. act as if they're superior.

As for the economy, I feel that it's getting stronger and business is booming. I was just offered a job in Louisiana in the engineering field - how is that possible? Surely our future can't be that bad when I see more and more technical jobs opening up in newspaper and online.

We're not that bad of people as so many of you might think...

I agree totally. The average American is not a bad person, nor is he intent on self before others. I am really pleased for you that you have been offered a job. I hope it goes well. The point of posting the article for me was to highlight that there are strong indicators that the 'American empire' is on the decline. i think it is an inevitable part of life that cultures rise and fall. Look at all of the historical comparisons we have. whilst i do not wish for the decline of the American nation i think it is important for people to realise that the world as we have known it for the last century is changing and the 'East' will become the dominant economies of the future. In part this is due to their sheer weight of numers of citizens and the free economy they live and work in. Think of how the USA used ot embody the free economy and how over the last thirty years, like the UK small business has come under more and more swinging regulation and subjected to costly red-tape measures.

I am a Brit, but I love the USA and her people. I do not like the actions of her government in recent years and as a by-product this does perhaps find me wishing for a seismic change in her policies and attitudes.I do not wish this at the peril or harm of any of her citizens for one minute.

Having been born in the 70's I have grown up with American culture extending itself on to my daily life increasingly over the decades. As an adult I was able to rationalise this as the free market in operation. Let's face it to foreigners the USA through the latter half of the 20th Centruy was 'cool' 'hip' and 'the land of opportunity' somewhere we could aspire to be a part of.

However my cynicism on the operation of the government in manipulating its citizens and the repeated protectionism measures, cackhanded foreign policy and the recent media censorship is increasing my intolerance for the power it tries to exert over the world. I have dare i say it almost fallen out of love with country because the dream you sold me just patently isn't real.

There will not be a change in my life time for sure in the way the human race conducts itself as a whole and capitalism will continue. The fact that the dominant global power of our lifetime is on the decline and that we can see indications of this through economic indicators is the point I wanted to raise.

I wish no war or hardship for anyone.

Yea, the whole "dead prophet" thing worked out with Baba Vanga.

Let's be honest here---while we may have some issues, currently, a massive USSR style collapse is NOT on the cards. Americans, above all, are fat and lazy. Do you really think we'll want to go fight a civil war when
(additmitley), a solid 80-90% of us have it easy? And this is coming from someone who makes under 30k, lives on my own, etc, this is NOT a tough country to live in if you have a shred of intelligence.

you're still going on telling me about how the economy will continue to fail, and i'm telling you GREAT...let it go...

sure McDonalds will be owned by a foreign investment group, and the likes of them will suck us dry until there is 'nothing left'...

my spill was more long term....my hopes and enthusiasm lies in the 'nothing left'....

I hope it dosn't take 20 years to suck us dry....overnight would be ideal....

What about its black and native American citizens. America has never been free!

Its always been a few wealthy rich bastards exploiting and robbing and yes...enslaving everyone else.

We are a modern day Rome where politics and BS distracts from the outright depravity of the corporate whores. If I've said it once....

We are fighting to be free, just as our father's and grandfathers did.

Free from oppression and unjust laws, free from racism and big brother. Free to live our lives as we see fit in total abundance. Bringing the standard of all human experience out of the cess pool it has become. Righting the wrongs and providing the basics of survival. Encouraging people to pursue.what they. Love instead of burdens and chores Wed have accomplishment and virtue.

We the people (of the world), my universal fam will throw of these tyrants and traitors to humanity.
