Wikileaks: Stop Us? You'll Have to Shut Down the Web

"It is not derailing us in any way," said Hrafnsson, adding that a group of five to six people is running Wikileaks' operations in Assange's absence. "This is a turning tide and starting a trend that you can't really stop unless you want to shut down the Internet

Well, I can't decide if I am in the "I knew wikileaks was a government shill to help shut down the "net!" camp or the " See, I told you wiklileaks would bring about real transparency! TPTB can't stop us now!" camp.

I understand how important seeing the real truth about our government is necessary, but is that what wikileaks has presented us with? Or is all they've presented us with is the next tool for taking our internet freedom away?

Paradoxically, if 'they' shut down the net it would mean the ultimate victory for internet freedom ... for if there's one thing that will unite people who don't bat an eye waking up to a TSA enema, it is they not being able to access their facebook page.

I don`t know how long will it take for people to realize the chinaization of the net is in the making due to Mr ssange
and everybody is falling for it,the best way to hide secrets is between two LIES...Deep throat from the X-Files.seems relevant !

Shutting off the internet would be the stupidest of stupid ideas. Do you know how many businesses would collapse? How many businesses can't compete with out it?

If the internet gets shut off there will be blood in the streets and it wouldn't just be over facebook.

This is exactly what I am hoping for. Even if all this was intended to shut down people seeking for the truth, if it accomplishes a mass awakening of all the doped-up zombies that receive their life from the MSM it will be a kick in the pants for the ones who planned it!

yes ..implications of shutting down the NET is unthinkable ever for the most high TPTB or super elite evil lisards ,aliens or whatever.
There will not be shutting of Net.That is a Fact. The worst thing is some kind of censoring.
This message from this thread is quite simple ..TPTB can't stop Wikileaks !

Julian completely nailed the government when he leaked all of those documents. There's nothing they can do to stop anonymous and hackers from ruining everything unless they shut down the internet. Over 1,000 mirror sites for wikileaks that are hosted all over the world and there's nothing governments or corporations can do about it. I'm really impressed and full supportive of his actions. The truth is the most important aspect of life on this planet. Without it, we would still be in the stone ages. I want them to release Julian and just tell us the truth about everything.

Shut down the entire Internet? Nope, all they really have to do to stop Wikileaks is arrest those 5 or 6 people on bogus charges too.

It sucks that our government doesn't want us to know the truth... At least Wikileaks has revealed some of the information we knew they were lying about, now if only other similar organizations would spring up to bring the whole truth to the people before it is too late we'd really be set free.

Blood on the streets cos facebook down

love it.

You are spot on,Government agencies and corporations have now become to rely on the net,if your employer pays direct to your account they use the net.
Yes they may try to censor and filter it but someone will always find away around it.
Stay strong Julian.

Hence why this whole thing is giant lulz cow. Everyone is scared of censorship like it's even possible to censor the web. Fear comes from ignorance. There is no way they can shut us down, or control it. DARPA designed it that way in the first place.

(in the voice of chandler bing)

i knew it!

not knew it, knew this would happen, but knew it was a possible outcome, that people really need to take on board then see it where it goes.

And how are you going to do that when you can't email the go order?

The military does not have the infrastructure in place to operate with out the internet.

Yeah, I don't believe they can "turn off the 'net" either. There is too great a possibility that would bring about collapse due to industry grinding to halt, i.e. food delivery to big cities, etc.

But is there a way for them to stop all but essential sevices, like military communication and financial institutions?

Yes maybe, but a lot of infrastructure like satellites are shared,so this will create a major drama.

Wikileaks are showing people the government does not have all the power. Shutting down the internet would be political suicide for TPTB, even if they could do it.

So many on here think the US can make a unilateral decision to shut the internet without taking into account the effect it would have on hundreds of other countries, on worldwide commerce, etc. It seems to be all part of the conditioning that makes US people believe their government can do what it wants, whenever it wants, wherever it wants.

Since July they have been trying to find a law which Assange has broken - as yet they haven't succeeded. Are they going to get international support for shutting the internet down on some trumped up charge? For copyright infringement?

I don't think so.

What they will do is Licencing.

You will have to get a licence to make or own a website.

All web users will have to get a licence.

Anonymous profiles will become a thing of the past, etc.

Certain topics will become illegal, for example right now child porn is illegal already. More things will be added to that list, etc.

I am just shooting from the hip here, it's just a guess.

But a good one.

Point is, through licencing and stiff regulations, Businesses can keep their $$$ flowing, while at the same time free-speech is enormously hampered. Win-Win.

See, I tend to agree with this. too. I don't think it is possible. But what is the purpose in all the documents released? There doesn't really seem to be anything that damaging in it, just really embarassing. Although, I acn see the effect of the MSM on those who get all their news there. My own elderly parents watch FOX, and on first hearing what was being said, were all: " Try Assange for treason!". That is what the unawakened are saying
all over America. My parents listened to me when I explained what the docs are really all about, but most people don't have someone to show them the truth.

The most powerful investors direct world perspectives, the suttle hints of chinas monitoring of net was that initial indicator.NWO board meetings must have came to a conclusion..Hey this is a good idea lets follow their lead.By the way the military is way ahead in technology, how` do you think the web came about. Also during international disintergration you don`t seriously think the military does`nt have its own infrastructure to function seperate from ,landline methods. They are really not as inadequate as you would believe..
