HAYDEN, Idaho -- While most see the holiday season as one of joy and merrymaking, at least one Hayden, Idaho, resident is taking the opportunity to spread a little hate courtesy of a noose-carrying, KKK hood-wearing snowman on their front lawn,

Several area parents first noticed the offensive snow sculpture, located in front of a home in the 9000 block of Hillview Drive, while taking their kids to school Tuesday morning. The sculpture depicts a snowman with a pointed hat and an outstretched right hand with a noose in it. Residents in the neighborhood say the homeowners also have an Aryan Nations flag on display.

The homeowner who had the offensive snow sculpture in front of his home is Mark, who was profiled by KXLY back in July for posting flags ranging from an Aryan Nations flag to an SS flag at his home, drawing the ire of his neighbors. Then in October he angered residents further when, according to neighbors, he passed out bullets on Halloween. A self-described White Separatist, Mark, who declined to give his last name during an interview in July, said Tuesday there was nothing wrong with his snowman. He says he put the snowman on his front lawn about a week ago. At first the snowman was much smaller, but someone attempted to knock it over within the last day or two, so he rebuilt it. It was about 10 feet tall Tuesday morning.

Yes, the cops wen to his house. Read the story to get it all..... One messed up Dude. Or, is he just expressing himself in a non-violent way? Is his rights to Freedom of Expression being violated?

Does he have the right to display this on his own property? It's an object made of snow.... Or is it the noose? Or the Neo-Nazi flags? Crazy, sick, maddening BUT is it really illegal?

I smell a court case coming. IF the mans has the guts to do it.

I guess the big sticking point, regardless how we as adults feel about it. But, it is where the snowman is that is my biggest problem. But, considering what he handed out for Halloween..... this was lame.

I think it's funny....It's his property, so if he wants to make a kkk snowman...I really don't care.

Exactly.

There is no right to not be offended, and certainly no right to damage someones property because you dont like what they have to say/think.

Two Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies went out to Mark’s home Tuesday and said there is a statute in Idaho against hanging nooses, which could have led to a criminal complaint against Mark if the noose hadn’t been removed from the sculpture.

He has the right to do whatever he wants so long as he does not break a law...seems they simply told him to get rid of the noose bit as there is a ordinance against that specifically. He can of course try and fight the ordinance.

This guy seems like a wonderful neighbor...but, the silver lining here is that he will be a force that unites the neighborhood against him...people actually love a "Black hat" to point at.

The guys right to free speech does have to follow some guidelines...even in his own home. Consider for a moment instead of him being a fan of white superiority and nazis (incidently, nazi's are great...they are the epic supervillian of the earth and have given me endless hours of video game joy killing them..not to mention seeing them die in endless creative ways in movies) but instead of him being a fan of that, he was a big fan of hardcore porn and decided to slap up lifesize posters of explicit scenes on his yard.

He would immediately be contacted, no questions asked.

So...the question is, should messages of hate and violence scenes be treated in the same way that we treat pleasure scenes?

Frankly, in society, we have it completely backwards...messages of hate need to be squashed from public view, and messages of pleasure should simply be ignored...but meh...whatever.

A nazi snowman...sounds kinda cool actually..but again, strictly from a target practice angle

Well....they do have the right to be offended, but they don't have the right to send him to court since its his property and he's not harming anyone. I bet a lot of people who reported it were white themselves.
Now, I don't know if that particular neighborhood is under the ordinance of a home owners association, which requires that homes be kept under specific guidelines and regulations.

I don't live too far from there... And supposedly that area is known for having white supremacists, but honestly...I just think it's funny, because they're extremely paranoid and preparing for a race war that they're certain is just around the corner.

It might be interesting to you if you do some research and see that there are many KKK groups all over the USA

Another point of interest is that not all KKK groups are in the same alliance.

You have violent and non violent groups.

Pretty much reminds me of the NAACP and the Black Panthers

Not all blacks groups are violent nor are all white groups violent..

I agree it is the mans right to build the snowman but he should be delt with concerning giving out ammo on halloween.

If he's not breaking any law, then he does have a right to have this in his garden, however, ''you reap what you sow'', and he can't really have any complaints if he, or his home, is targeted by people because of this snowman.

Actions have consequences, and if you're deliberately setting out to antagonise other people, then these potential consequences aren't always the most desirable.

Thanks for the laugh.. I think he does it for attention personally, and it seems to be working well. Amazing what people get riled up about..

I do think the noose goes a bit far though, that may be beyond his protected rights of free expression and speech .. the noose indicates a violent threat. The rest, the kkk snowman, well that's just silly. People just need to get on with their lives, don't let an angry snowman ruin your day... and if people ignored the idiot, he would probably stop.

the noose indicates a violent threat

Does it? The noose, I think that is where the arguements are. Is a simple noose, hung on a snowman, with no other indicators/factors mean or meant as a threat? And, if so, to whom? How?

If you can't name anyone, then it isn't a threat. The snowman isn't going to use it! Right?

Just some good old Friday midday Hair Spliting..... (so-to-speak)

(PS: If you flag the story, more people may come and read all of you folds great replies-just saying....

What makes this a kkk snowman... A snowman can't be KKK.... So what ever image was made to be portrayed is not huamn therefore not able to belong to any group of humans.....

It's got a goofy conehead but so did dan akroid in the movie coneheads did that make dan akroid playing a KKK'er because of a goofy pointy head.??

Take it with a grain of salt.

Um...??? Wrong! Nobody has the right to not be offended! Where in the Constitution does it say a person may not be offended because of another persons thoughts or views? There is no such clause.
As an example:
If someone is offended regardless of topic, its simply a " feeling " of offense. If I like guns and you don't, your dislike in guns would be because of how they make you feel right? You have no right to not be offended, period. " Feelings or offense " is based off of emotion.

Simple because someone holds opinions you disagree with doesnt make anyone more or less intelligent than you or others.

It's a difference of opinion. Nothing more.

Well, we could just say that since all snowmen are WHITE, he's just stating the obvious.
Now, if all snowmen were black, ............
