Indeed, Wikileaks has seen that movie before: In 2008, a Swiss bank — upset by a leaked document that it said contained secret client data — obtained an American court order locking WikiLeaks' domain name. The order was reversed after two weeks, but even during that time it was strikingly ineffective, due to what several experts called the "Whack-a-Mole" problem.

"They were taken off the air at WikiLeaks.org but they remained available on mirror sites or if you knew the (numerical) IP address,' said Steven Aftergood of the Federation of American Scientists. "Simply doing what was done to the counterfeit companies is not going to accomplish anything with respect to WikiLeaks."

I hope that Steven is right.
But this seems much more aggressive, if we all got booted for dispersing links here from our respective isp's all over the world! NZ ,US, India.. ...
holy crap!

I'm not sure.
He uses Maltego to root out sites that are recruiting jihadists.
Claims he is ex military operative. If he is who I think he is, he isn't. But I don't know for sure.
I'm pretty sure I know how he works though.
Anyway, he has had wikileaks in his sites because he buys that wikileaks puts troops in danger.
Bleh.

The thing is, can we VERIFY that is the site?
I wouldn't be donating through that link.

(That is rumored to the the site. It did have the cables a bit ago. That's all I can say for sure, I should have been more clear.)
I don't for the life of me why wikileaks doesn't TWITTER IPs
Who would NEED DNS?

My friend just reported she was booted as well. Shes not following the wikileaks thing by any means, but I sent her the IP and asked her to check if it opened for her. She just got back to me and said shed been booted from the web and had a bit of trouble getting back on, then her browser suggested she turn on private filtering (no idea what that is, or if it means anything at all..)

The problem with torrent files is poisoning. You can end up with intentionally inserted contamination and also viral attacks to possible users. You'd have to checksum the cache of files and have some authoritative source with control over that.
I think twitter could be very useful IF it were being used more effectively. Wikileaks is smart. I can't figure out why they aren't using more social resources to sidestep this sort of thing.
I'd have a section of squawkers squawking out IPs, checksums. They wouldn't have to know or do anything else so they couldn't really be implicated as long as there's any free speech at all.

It just seems to me...dagnag it...so often coders are so smart analytically to use machines, but they don't know how to effectively utilize social networks and well, people.
