S. Korean artillery mistakenly fired on DMZ

S. Korean artillery mistakenly fired on DMZ
PAJU, South Korea, Nov. 28 (Yonhap) -- An artillery shot accidentally fired by a South Korean army unit fell on the South Korean side of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) on Sunday afternoon, military officials said.

No casualties were reported from the accidental discharge that occurred at around 3 p.m., the officials said. An artillery unit stationed in the border town of Paju, Gyeonggi Province, mistakenly fired a shell that landed near Daeseong-dong, a civilian village on the southern side the DMZ dividing the two Koreas, they said.

Wow. How could you accidentally fire an artillery piece?
Unbelievable mistake that could have easily skyrocketed the korea tensions.
Everybody is on edge and china is due to make an URGENT statement.
North Korea also aimed rockets at our ships and are targeting our jets during their maneuvers.

Hopefully next week we can look back and say close one...

Maybe it was an accident because it didn't injure anyone..or someone saw something they were not supposed to

or it was an accident and they were just "are all worked up like JOJO the idiot dancer".

During this coming war ,we must remember the old saying 'The first casualty of war is the truth'.from both sides.

Accident? So they accidentally loaded the howitzer and accidentally yanked the trigger?

I don't think accident, nobody standing there wants to be on the front line of WWIII.

its real easy to miss fire a shell.. even now adays.. I remember a few years a go at camp roberts cali their plugger was off by 9 sec and they ended up hitting a paso robles school.. on a sunday no one was hurt but hell it happens.. people forget that while it doesn't take a smart person to fire one it takes a smart one to aim it and have it hit at the right spot.. even a few degrees off an your talking miles off. people.. easyer than you think

you discharge a weapon accidentally in the military
they fry your ass

from a weapon manual

WARNING: When you squeeze the trigger, you must expect the gun to
fire, and you must take full responsibility for firing it. Your care can avoid
accidental discharge, and you will thereby avoid accidental injury or death.

As if the SK people don't have enough to worry about with NK aggression, now they have to watch out for their own military accidentally firing at them from the other side?

Whichever butterfingers caused this, be sure their military career is now over

Imagine that meeting: "You could have caused all-out warfare, dumb-ass!"

Of all the times NOT to accidentally fire

"NK agression"?
we all would like to see the proof of that!
since the proof always comes up
like this incident on this thread
to be not NK firing first

Erm, have we been following the same story?

You do know the island was bombed by NK artillery, yes? Or are you suggesting the SK military attacked their own island?

And, FYI, this thread is not proof of anything. An accidental firing of a weapon today suddenly means SK MUST HAVE attacked their own people?

Seriously, the stupidity on ATS astounds me sometimes.

Actually, this incident gives us interesting insight.

The SK artillery is NOT aimed at NK, by default. Why? Precisely because IF they accidentally fired their weapons, it doesn't start WW3.

This latest incident also shows a level of ineptitude. Perhaps it is completely possible that last week SK actually did make a mistake and provoked NK into making a legitimate response.

If the first incident was a fraud, the second time is not?
Where is the proof that NK fired first, and that the first rounds were fired from NK?
simple request...
I mearly provided credible sources that the US and the SK are involved in false flag ops
so again were is the proof NK is guilty as charged?

accidental firing...
german torpedo... (hitlery lied, they have known all along it wasn't nk)
two out of three aint bad
not!
how do you know the first shell wasn't SK accidentally onpurpose firing first?

PS
loopy logic not accepted as proof

PPS how do you think a country is going to react to being accused when independant test from multiple sources show the accusations aren't true?
how would anyone react to false accusations?
neither the russians nor the chinese believe the US's accusations as they have stated

Did this happen today? I think that this is very strange, I mean after all the hullabaloo over the exercises in the first place.

Could it have been an accident? Seems they would have had nothing pointed int eh direction of the DMZ.

I don't get this.

ok so south korea admits to firing the first shots last week. www.youtube.com...

now the south "accidentally" fires again??!
something stinks, reminds me of some operation northwoods or gulf on tonkin style business, and mildly convenient that they are gearing up for some wargames right in the area.
keep an eye out for a third war front opening up on the U.S's roman-style foreign war overextension program.

At this situation ,any accident will cause tension, the civilian are in a state of extreme nervousness, maybe the one who made this accident will be put in prison.
