Well america is turning into quite a dictatorship to me. The government shutting down websites indiscriminately, forming censorship. Proposing a new law for them to regulate what we eat. They shove us GM foods without labeling it. We are losing lots of freedom and liberties but everyone is #ing distracted by everything.

What freedoms have you lost?

Just wondering.

that 1million number isnt even CLOSE to right

here

Iraqi body count

People need to stop speculating.........and tho you are right about alqaida using them as meat sheilds, your also failing to account for the deaths that were CAUSED by IED and suicide bombers in the area, that were NOT attributed to the US

Ive been to the area, ive seen the mass graves Sadam dug myself and talked to the locals.

These posts are a bit off topic, but my point was to rectify the post from the gentleman above you. Once again trying to make the US out to be the bad guy, by trying to misdirect the thread into another direction about another topic.

Thanks for you reply tho, I understand what you were trying to say.

1 million civilians are said to have been killed in Iraq.

Oh please go on.
Let's just keep regurgitating all the online BS about Iraqi casualties...

Saddam did not use human shields nor did he use the population as weapons.

What the hell are you talking about?
He used the entire POPULATION of his country both times to hide behind.

The people fighting the Americans in Iraq do, and it's quite difficult to tell who is who.

They are called Iranian trained and equipped insurgents, who by the way needlessly extended the war a full 2 years or more in order to attempt a full fledged sectarian conflict [Sunni vs Shiite] in order to gain Iranian influence on the new Iraqi Government.

Movies like the Hurt Locker show this very accurately.

That's the problem.... Too many people base their opinions on Movies. Both pro and con. And honestly don't know jack about what really went on.

The fact of the matter is that in terms of purposely killing people, Saddam killed more. But In terms of the casualties of war, Americans kill more.

Prove it! What is the source for this claim? The the bogus and biased Lancet survey? which was shown to be biased hell even the official Iraqi Government survey had cut the real numbers down by 75% The claim of over 1 million killed also included but not limited to Heart attacks, Automobile accidents and Crime related murders.

However, people forget why they are dieing. Americans are not going up to them and killing them Like Saddam did. The people the Americans are fighting are taking cover in civilians and using them for cover, increasing their likelihood of death. This would be the same if it war Russia, China, or even Portugal. The blame still goes on the people using them for cover.

Research who exactly is funding these insurgents that should give you an idea who exactly is to really blame for the majority of the civilians killed.

Its funny how soon the world forgets how much the US actually DOES for other countries......

And so little for the underprivileged here in the States.

And lets examine what we really DO do in other countries as well, while we're at it,

Seems about equal according to the post above yours. I saw a 1 million body count somewhere but apparently that was wrong. Point remains, Americans don't kill civilians on purpose, Saddam did.

Not to quible, but the patriot act, sound familiar? That definitely has a number of bullet points that deprive the most average citizen of their rights, if for any reason if TPTB decide to classify them as a terrorist.

You can also look at Obama's recent decision to have an internet "kill switch" passed. I am sure we could dig up more, but that is not the topic in this thread.

On topic, it does indeed seem to be a bit coincidental that all of this happens, just as Wikileaks, is dropping their biggest bombs yet. Seriously, This is all pretty convenient timing as was mentioned earlier in the thread. It makes you wonder who else will be implicated and for what. Im surprised nobody started a UFO disclosure thread being part of this

Not to mention, the global health initiative, and the US is #1 in aiding with the HIV/AIDS epidemic world wide.

Did I mention the US is #1 in giving foreign aid to other countries? Statistics

I think your assessment is very wrong.

Sure a carrier has a great damage potential. But reading you I feel that you believe the Chinese are completely defenceless and 'won't know what hit them' until all their key infrastructures are gone. Please

Trust me, China has eyes on every US carriers.

The moment one gets too close and something suspect is launched towards China, they will throw everything they have. Included subs that the US navy can't even detect, the largest airforce on this planet and all the carrier killers missiles they are proud of.

A carrier is a big glass cannon, a prime target sitting duck. If China and the US are ever at war, they will be taken out first, you can be sure of it.

It pains me to note that you are quite correct in your assessment. China, vis the Russians and various peices of the old USSR now have some game changing weaponry: namely the Sunburn and the Yakhonts missiles. To quote the second link regarding the Yakhonts "We can say with confidence that no one antiship missile system currently in service elsewhere in the world possesses such an array of unique technical and operational characteristics as Yakhont." I understand we have the Phalanx and various micromissile ABM's, but these will be overwhelmed quickly by a saturated attack. It actually gets worse: the Chinese now have ballistic antiship missiles like the Wind-21D and the DF-21D Dong Feng - in particular, if it is MIRVed. Using our own ABM's against an incoming ballistic target (missile) is dicey at best - we have systems under development that knock out @ 80% of targets. So if (God forbid) the Chinese were to target a carrier with 10 DF-21Ds....? This weapon is a gamechanger, particularly if its terminal guidance is good. Under most scenarios, the enemy will target a carrier when it is most vulnerable - during recovery operations of launched fighters. Unfortunately, there is even more - variations of the Shkval Torpedo which is a serious threat to our ships and subs. The Russians and Chinese, being unable to keep up with our spending/ production of fleets of supercarriers, etc. clearly decided to develop the most efficient (both in cost and performance) countermeasure to them - at a tiny fraction of the cost. The carriers are great in a conventional warfare mode - or even limited nuclear..... but I fear the days of total domination of the worlds oceans by any one power are fast coming to an end, with the supercarrier model being outdated. One attack on such a group would change the balance of power in the Western Pacific (at least) for a long time to come.
The point of all this? While we can be sure of annihiliating anyone we choose (and having much damage done to us), the emerging and rapid spread of advanced technology will require other, often more diplomatic solutions if we are to continue living in even a quasi - stable world....

The USA is not a "communist" state, and they sure as hell can not be trusted either. I do not think "Communism" has anything to do with anything.

You think dead people care about the intentions of the death? The result of intentional or unintentional death is the same...

"unintended consequences" aren't a get out of murder free card... We knew there would be unintended consequences from the get go and yet we still acted. So we made an educated informed decision to kill innocent people. Pretty much the same as "on purpose"...

hah, youre kidding right? what freedoms arent we losing???

Can you give me some that we have lost since Obama became president? He kept the Patriot Act in place which is the only Drastic situation I can think of. Other than that, not too sure what freedoms you speak of...so please...enlighten us here at AboveTopSecret.com...

What freedoms have we lost?

I can sit here and call Obama a radical leftist SOCIALIST/COMMUNIST/FASCIST/NAZI...But he's not any of those.

I can still purchase a gun.

I can watch pornography in my state.

I can go to the local gay bathhouse and have myself some fun.

I can go to the strip club and get a lap dance.

I have health insurance.

There are more pot shops in LA than there are Starbucks.

I can vote.

I can drink up a storm.

I can smoke up a storm.

I can sign up to the military if I want to...no one is forced to (yet).

The list goes on.

So please, enlighten us...what freedoms are we losing?

You want to discuss the loss of freedoms? Try living in North Korea. Let us know how it goes, thanks.
