"Saturn's second-largest moon Rhea has a wispy atmosphere with lots of oxygen and carbon dioxide, a new study has found.

NASA's Cassini spacecraft detected Rhea's atmosphere during a close flyby of the frozen moon in March. The discovery marks the first time an oxygen-rich atmosphere has been found on a Saturn satellite."

MSNBC.COM - SATURN MOON

Very Interesting - The article goes on to talk about other Natural Satellites that have similar atmospheres. Thoughts ATS???

That's pretty cool, too bad it's frozen. Hey, maybe somebody can turn saturn into a sun? Just a thought.

LOL. Thanks for the thoughts...

My curiosity is why are we just now finding out so many other places in our own Solar System are capable of sustaining life as we know it when for so long we were positive we were an island unto ourselves?

calling it "oxygen-rich" when the article says that the earth's oxygen consentration is 5 million times more, is frankly a little absurd...they were barely able to detect oxygen molecules, would have been a more accurate statement

Obviously you didn't read the article because the first paragraph states :Saturn's second-largest moon Rhea has a wispy atmosphere with lots of oxygen and carbon dioxide, a new study has found.

Very cool article indeed.

Hi space fans.

Here is the REAL description of what it is:

NASA's Cassini spacecraft has detected a very tenuous atmosphere known as an exosphere, infused with oxygen and carbon dioxide around Saturn's icy moon Rhea.
