This will really piss off PETA.

The piggy bank costs £2,500, how is that saving money.

Funny if the cork slot is in the rear end. The pig sh#ts money.

They're getting death threats, over a damn money box.

web.orange.co.uk...

Animal lovers are angry after a designer created a piggy bank from a real piglet.

The Piglet Bank is advertised as being made from a taxidermied young pig, complete with "a coin storage unit and a cork plug".

Belfast-based designer Colin Hart, who says: "We are now getting death threats if we don't stop producing these things."

Advertised as the 'piggy bank of all piggy banks', the moneybox is said to take up to 12 months to produce from the time of order.

Colin explains: "Just so you know that we don't actually kill the Piglets, they die of natural causes and these are the ones that we use.

"We have had three people interested in buying one so far."

The Piglet Bank costs about £2,500 with "half expected up front and the rest payable on delivery".

I find it offensive.

Animals die in order to feed others, which is bad enough.

This is just sick.

So they're such peace lovers (that regard all life as sacred) that they'd threaten to take the life of someone else because of an ANIMAL?

It goes to show how downright stupid some people are.

Wow, how could anyone buy that?? Throughout history the pig has always been a sacred animal and seen as human in some ways.
I find it really offensive. I love eating pork but I find this to be really offensive.

'Colin explains: "Just so you know that we don't actually kill the Piglets, they die of natural causes and these are the ones that we use. ' So you're saying that it's alright to brutally slaughter pigs for food, but it's not ok if one dies a much less painful death and is used as a trophy of sorts. Tell me; if you were a piglet would you rather have your throat slit to become bits and pieces for some humans stomach, tossed into a mudpit to decay, or turned into a cute radiant piece of art worth thousands--- that holds money inside...

Think about it

Just creepy... I suppose people taxidermy animals all the time, at least this has a purpose.

I certainly wouldn't have it in my house! Reminds me of something the Janitor in Scrubs would make.

That isn't a "cute radiant piece of art".. it's a stuffed pig with a holes in it for people to put their money inside of it.
How can you not find that offensive or at least weird?

They didn't deliberately kill animals just to make piggy bank.

I'm not saying it's not weird or creepy necessarily. Offensive? Hardly. Think about it. Pig grows to live in it's own #, eating garbage, with other cannibal swine, before being slaughtered in a grotesque and mechanical fashion, then sliced into a million strips to be fed to people OR, dying a cute piglet from some natural cause; and then having your body displayed as a symbol in a wealthy persons home for many years to come. If you really think this is offensive, I'm curious as to what your reasoning is..elaborate for me perhaps?

animals including humans die every day, sometimes they die beacause something else wants them for food, only humans use dead animal for other things furs/skins/taxidermy/trophies.....pigs is food to all, I dont think i would have a "piggy bank " tho'

This is hilarious. Taking the piggy bank to a whole new level. Although I wouldn't buy one, I think its a cool idea. And if I did have one I probably wouldn't stop laughing after uncorking it. And those stupid animal lovers threatening a mans life over a stuffed carcass...jeez, I'd buy the piglet just to piss them off

Just imagine if in some parallel universe where pigs rule the Earth, they have stuff human banks

They also have pigs arguing on the net about the ethics of it.

Now that would be ironical.

Ok People, calm down ;-) I for for one will never by something like this. But who are we to judge what art is. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and if some guy what's to pay a crazy amount for something like that...it's up to him. Remember we are animals as well. And here is my thoughts on eating meat. We have been eating other animals since the begining of time. Ever wondered why we have canines? We need them to tear meat. We are omnivores after all. If you're a vegan that is fine with me. But don't come here and tell me we are unethical for eating meat when we are the normal ones. You don't think we are? Then popping pills by the hand full to get the proper nutrients to survive is normal then?..I think not. I have some vegan friends and the way they look at my steak when I eat it make me a little uneasy and feel dirty. It's like they're watching porn ;-P

It's interesting to see the different views about this. People are so interesting.

I personally don't find this offensive. But I rarely do find things offensive. I could see it as art and if people want this in their home and are willing to pay the 2.5K, I don't care.

I find it curious that people would kill any number of animals for any number of reasons, but killing a pig for a piggy bank just crosses some kind of line. (I know the OP source claims they don't kill the pigs, but use ones that die of natural causes).

I think it's cute and a novel idea.

If the little piggy died naturally, then I guess they can do what they want with the remains.
But if they killed the lil' guy just to make this trinket .... BAH!
It's bad enough we have to kill critters to eat, but when life is wasted ... ugh.

The person that made it and the one that bought it deserve to be heavily investigated. What else would you find?

Argh, I think it's very creepy! You're a creepy girl, BH. The coins go where the innards used to be.
And I find it even creepier that there are humans that find this hilarious.

I'm not an animal lover, but I respect higher form (or even lower form, for the sake of decency) of living creature the higher I consider they are. Oddly, I don't consider certain kind of humans as higher life form creatures.. the irony.
