Hello ATS!

I have a question that is very important.
Why must we continue to hide behind
Alter Ego's and Screen Names?

Why can't we back our opinions with our faces?
If we, unlike the rest of the world believe in a real change...
then why do we continue to hide only to prove we continue bluffing?

If you are not scared of the consequences your opinion brings then why hide?

Side Note: To all who will call me out on my SN drkid... Here is the SPACE ATS will edit after i post my real name like they have done in the past, over and over again to protect my own identity? From who? From what? The Government that is already spying on us all? From the Internet Service Providers that keep a record of all of our visited websites and research? From the same ISP's that will sell out information in the name of National or Local Security? There is no need to hide anymore if you want a real change.

Life's too simple guy's. You live, You die.
Everything in between are just rules made
by fools in the most artificial ways.

Opinions anybody?

Why should my "real" name or face be more important than the content of my mind?

It's not so much that I am hiding, it's more like, "Who cares?" You either listen to the message, or you don't.

Ahhh, but there lies the problem now doesn't it? I met someone the other day at work and they loved everything that came out of my mouth. This person was going to add me on Facebook but his BOSS said NO because it was going to make the company look bad. Now to me... being a person that is a true believer in ending corruption in all ways shapes and forms, sounds like selling out humanity for corporate interest.

Guys this is the root of our problem here, wake up man. This can all be over if we ALL participate and be true to ourselves. Trust me, others will catch on, time doesn't exist.

Unfortunately ATS is an open site. Anyone can read stuff here, and we all know that there are some really sick, freaky people on the 'net (No I do not not refer to folks here LOL!). I've been stalked via the net before, it's not a pleasant thing to recieve a snail mail sattelight image with an overhead view of your apartment complex with your unit circled. This when you'd never given out that information. It's happened to me though. I already sometimes feel as though I've given out too much detail. Sometimes? Sometimes paranoia is warrented.

I can see where you are coming from... however individuals should learn to love themselves a bit more than that and open themselves up to accept credibility for their own idea's.

If it really concerns you then you can make a face book page with your name address phone number and shoe size and the join the ATS facebook group telling everyone who you are.

Problem solved

1. I use my username because it takes less time to type than my real name. No shady reason for the username either, it was just two letters next to each other on the keyboard. Easy.

I do use my real name elsewhere though. I think it depends on the site. I frequent just one conspiracy site (this one) and a few preppers forums, but thats enough to give me more grief than i need from certain parties.

2. Why don't i use my real face in my avatar? I am considerate to other members here. I think i fell out of the ugly tree when i was little and hit every branch on the way down.

This is understandable. Being a musician for a while, i would get fans that would try to apply at my JOB just because they wanted to be around me. Check it out, its natural for people to attract others... You can just choose to stay away from them or just tell them straight up, "HEY, i don't feel comfortable with what your doing, and would like my space." If they continue to stalk you, then call the cops on them and take them to court.

Some folks don't want to deal with the hassle of the steps but its the only way things will run as smooth as they should in order to end all this corruption once and for all.

Everyone should be proud of their human form... you have no other option but to live life looking the way you do. Others can judge but guess what? They will be judged as well and there is no change in this what so ever.

I think we hold back and our ego's take the best out of what we should be. Your name might be long, but guess what? Its probably cool to someone else!

To be honest, the world in general is not ready for such openess as you suggest.

It is half-filled with delinquent minds seeking to manipulate for their own purposes. It's no real biggie to have a net user name and avatar.. I am still the same person in every situation than I am here.. only my name is different... what comes out of my mouth is always the same.

And, my unusual real name is shared by at least 12 other people in the world, some are well off businessmen, some are fatherly men, one is a major gay porn star.. so I found out from googling my own name once to see what came up. I would not like to be aligned with the porn star.

So I am happy being Tay from Oz who speaks his mind and is totally honest with you.

Eh ... looks and such is good when you have them.

I meet tonnes of people online I wouldn't otherwise meet and this is a good thing. It's difficult not to judge someone based on what they look like and I think the net really helps with that.

I hear you drkid. I'm a musician as well, though I've been out of the music industry for a long time. I know what it's like. I've certainly heard similar stories, even recently. II always get amused going to gigs of various bands that I like, watching how over the top some folks get over their favorite musicians. It's vastly amusing to watch. Celebs are no different than we are.

You say that ATS edits out your name every time you try to post it. Well, if you read their T&Cs and their privacy policy, you'll see that they have the discretion to do this. If you have an issue with it, then you need to contact TAN admin and discuss it with them. Their "contact us" link is on every page on this site. So are the links to the T&Cs and the privacy policy.

By the way, maybe you should note what it says in the T&Cs section 15e ii) :

ii) You will not Post, use the chat feature, use videos, or use the private message system to collect or ask for the personal information (data mining) about forum members, including email addresses and "real life" names, in any manner whatsoever, or for any reason whatsoever.

"You will not...ask for the personal information about forum members...in any manner whatsoever, or for any reason whatsoever."

In other words, your posts that encourage/ask us to give out real, personal, identifiying information about ourselves are probably a breach of the T&Cs that you agreed to when you joined.

In any case, I don't see a picture of you as your avatar. Some members use their own faces within their avatars and it does not seem that they are blocked from doing this. There is, after all, at least one example in the replies you've received. So why not post your picture if you wish to further your cause? I'm not saying you should (as that would also breach the T&Cs), I'm just asking why you seem to have this double standard.

Mike

To be anoynmous (well, relatively anonymous) is a great gift and it can encourage people to say all sorts of things they wouldn't otherwise. You have much more freedom this way, when ego is less of an issue. To paraphrase another slogan some may recognize, "because none of us is as smart as all of us."

Also, there are people who delight in stalking and ruining people on the Internet. This particular ugly passtime is rapidly becoming much easier and more common than you might think, thanks to a large degree to the net (and the social network/web 2.0 stuff in particular).

Someone mentioned that the world is not ready for these changes... I strongly disagree. My idea of a NEW WORLD is a world where people have no shame in their believes. Sure, we can use alternative names, but its the only true way to clear out all these dis-informants and trust each other like we should.

Let stalkers do their thing and let the evil people in the world be punished for their stupid acts. It's kind of like this example...

What are hospitals for? So folks who are born to Earth have a place to fix themselves when they need to be repaired. Why are there so many laws against drugs that don't really kill anyone but offer great insight on how to really live here on Earth? Why do they leave Alcohol legalized but hold such a strong conviction against Mushrooms and '___'?

The only reason we are SCARED of this change, is due to what we have been programmed to believe by society! Nothing but taboo's and stupid laws that can be eliminated if we truly stood up for what WE BELIEVE IN. A lot of people will come and try to censor the truth... and you can see it as clear as day light.

Listen, another example. This guy Alex Jones. If he didn't use his real name and didn't make the world aware of his true existence then he would have died MANY years ago. If we want a REAL change, we need to start coming out and speak out against EVERYTHING we KNOW needs to change. I've been on these boards for a while and all you guys want the same solution, just DO IT, TOGETHER. It's SIMPLE, just back yourself up and convince others to put their faith in you. It's all it takes, FAITH.
