Yeah I loved getting fresh milk delivered, was always a good layer of cream on it and it came in glass

I would be happy to pay to get the milk delivered again, and it would provide more jobs

Not especially, but Mom seems to always get really nostalgic and bummed when the subject is brought up.

Yes I miss them greatly...used to dance around to them and act stupid in my youth.

Sadly they are gone...but we have youtube to remember them.

I can't say that I miss them. We didn't have any.

I grew up in the country. We had cows.

Milk men were a little before my time (maybe 9 months, according to some
)

What I do miss though, is milk in glass jugs. It tastes sooooo much better. I don't know what it is about plastic but everything packaged in it seems to have less flavor somehow- soda, milk juice etc. Paper cartons were better than plastic too.

Not really. When I was a kid it was the norm!.

I don't miss

1) Having the milk money stolen.
2) The change from the milk man stolen
3) People stealing your bottles because they broke theirs
4) Cats knocking over your bottles & breaking them.
5) Seeing on the news stories about how milk men sue their customers because they take a shortcut through the yard instead to walking back into the street, trip over the hose & break their ankle!
6) In Australia we have some real hot mornings. Pouring warm milk on your wheeties is not that appealing

The cost is a lot cheaper at the supermarket & comes in bigger sizes. Cartons & plastic bottles can be recycled more easily & are less breakable

Look up local dairy co-ops in your area. They still deliver milk - and RAW milk at that. Which in turn is AMAZINGLY healthy for you when its from clean sources.

when we were kids we used to have sleepovers at each others houses

and go out at about 5am and steal loads of milk and eggs and orange juice

it was great

Wow raw milk that's cool. I know in Australia dairy farmers all belong to some co-operative style group (forget the same wording) where all milk must be pasturised etc etc before sale. A dairy farmer told me legally he is not allowed to drink the milk he produces straight from the cow. He must go & buy it like everyone else. He also said most farmers disregard this to get the benefit you mentioned as the authorities have no way of proving it
