Since being here for a short time,
I have enjoyed the passion that ATS members have displayed in numerous threads,
in various forums,
when addressing the injustice and inequalities people are facing everyday.
Quite a few members spend a lot of time and energy debating and countering others in a thread to push their viewpoint on a topic against
friends/mods/foes/debunkers/trolls/and organized shills (cointelpros),
but my interest lies in what else you do, or don’t do.
Various threads and forums, and the issues that they address can, in most instances be reduced to a common source. That source being:
Government Officials elected in good faith to govern FOR the people, who don’t!
Consider - 9/11, immigration, War, Climate Change, Environment, Endangered Species, Disclosure, GM food, Employment, Banks, Foreign Policy ....
So...
Do you get things off your chest here in ATS,
Get a star,
Feel warm and fuzzy inside,
and leave it at that?
Or do you take the information you have presented and/or processed
and take it further?
Do you email/write to your local representative in Govt?
Do you email/write to newspapers (websites/letters to editor)?
Do you try and get friends/family/co-workers involved to contact their Govt Reps?
Join protest marches?
Don’t get me wrong. I am just as blasé on quite a few things.
But at times I have been prompted to try and let my thoughts be known.
I'm in Australia, but I have:
Emailed newspapers (in OZ, US, Iran, & Israel) on the ME war and Gaza,
Govt People here about Internet filtering, water issues, etc,
even The Whitehouse - attention Pres Obama
--(though they just said thank you and stuck me on a mailout list), and
Joined a group
Getup! Action for Australia which petitions and emails the government on community issues.
Perhaps you would like to respond to this thread with some of the things you have taken further outside ATS.
Share some links to sites of action groups that campaign for changes in your community/town/city/county/state/country.
A good compendium of links to sites (moderated by ATS staff) that worked for change (or pressure for change), would give ATS members a reference page
where members could put their feelings into action.
An example: The Mustang Issue that the conspiracy chicks highlighted. Linking something like that to a petition aimed to the authorities concerned,
and potentially we could have up to 50% of ATS members (100,000+) responding and letting officials know we are p#ed off. (they may well have done
this. I didn't read all the info)
And, I will leave you with a quote from a movie which was made to make people think:
"I see all this potential, and I see us squandering it. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars.
Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy # we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose
or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on
television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And
we're very, very pissed off." ~ Tyler Durden, Fight Club(1999)
