saw a few recent threads about sirius looking brighter than normal....went to check on it an came up with this (not new info, but new to me

server4.sky-map.org...


Why is the star blocked out?

can anyone with a good telescope confirm or deny??

I was reading about this awhile back and it was explained as something really simple and silly if I remember right. Maybe somebody else will chime in. Who knows for sure why it was done but I would have to search around and find the article again.

On DSS all sky survey Sirius really look like cut out. In reality Sirius is the brightest stat in the sky (not counting our Sun). It is so bright that is burned through the sensitive film used to take the survey. Note, every shot (out of 6,000 for whole DSS survey) was continuously capturing light from 30 to 90 minutes.

Hi,
I kind of did, but I think that veil thing was sort of like a portal to like, an afterlife or wherever you go when you die. Luna said that she heard the voices too, and I think she meant that she knew it was like the voices of the deceased, and that the veil was a portal or gateway to somewhere else.
