Shooting erupts in Chechen parliament

this is a breaking story so it may change
as facts roll in

MOSCOW – Russian news agencies report shooting in the parliament of Russia's volatile Chechnya region.

Interfax is reporting deaths in the parliament complex in the center of the Chechen capital as special forces converge on the scene.

Interfax reports the shooting erupted in the office of the speaker of the Chechen parliament, citing a law enforcement source.

The restive region in the Russian North Caucasus has been battling an Islamist insurgency for years despite the iron rule of its Moscow-backed president, Ramzan Kadyrov.

Good catch BDS, but it looks like this thread beat you to the punch by about 7 minutes:
ATS Breaking News

Makes you wonder how these people think they'll get away with something like this without either dying or going to prison forever.

well ATS allows 1 thread in breaking news
and 1 in reg forum so I'm good to go with
this one. However, I did not see the other thread
before I posted this one as it had a different title.

It would seriously suck to be a hostage in a situation like that, where you know that the people holding you will probably rig you with bombs to make sure you don't live if they die.

yep, it's a bad situation for sure.
And who knows what other lil surprises
these guys have rigged.

Mumbai comes to mind when I saw
this. I wonder if the CIA has a hand
in it by rebel support means.

Hey, if it suits the CIA's "interests", I wouldn't put it past them. The world is a vast chess board, and the CIA has been known to sacrifice some pawns every now and then.

well that they have done many times over
in the past. Most times it's not from their
ranks though as it's much easier finding
someone willing to die for their cause
and promise them their family will be taken
care of if they do this and this.
And most will do it cuz they have no other
opportunities or choices.

Now I wonder what the agenda is
and what spin will be put on it?

All militants killed ...

I was going to say, I don't think prison time is in the cards for these boys ... that was quick.

I remember someone saying the CIA's purpose is to destabilize the entire globe so certain powers can gain power. Divide and conquer...

Add that to CIA history of supporting coup attempts and terrorists, and the fact that they run drugs and Russia had a heroin epidemic when we went to Afghanistan and the dots connect themselves...

well after reading your link
I find it extremely odd that they attempted
to take over an entire parliament with only 5 men.
That was a suicide mission to begin with,
with that small unit. And according to that
link there were no reports of civilian causalities.
I wonder if there were any?

Well that wraps up this incident.
What do you think the outcome will be?

After the school incident, I think any hostage situation in Chechnya is going to be a suicide mission ... you know how Russia is ... they take "no negotiating" to a whole new level.

a couple days to collect evidence
a few months to track down motive and co-conspirators
a few arrests
send the CIA operatives back to Langley
public trial of the rest
execution by firing squad
case closed
