I am Divine Strake. I debated for a while about whether or not to make this post. Then I decided, I need some more attention, and to get that, I will make a controversial statement that in an obvious, yet vague, sort of way, that sums up what the general public seems to feel about the state of the country. Then, I think I'll talk about my statement, and use some artistic ability to fatten up my bankroll!
because I am totally concerned about John Q. . .what's his name?

What I find most amusing about this is that the policies which would bring the working class a larger chunk of the pie (which has been slowly reduced for the last 3 decades) are the same policies that the republicans are fighting today and the conservatives are fighting today. Instead they want to go the opposite direction.

Smaller government and less spending? This would mean, less regulation on business which include workers rights, environment protection, and consumer protection. And would also include less social programs. Which I know many of you apathetic people could care less about. Smaller government may have worked 30 years ago when you could get a decent job at a factory but WAKE UP, those jobs are GONE. They're overseas. What we have left is the retail market serving the dieing middle class and the upper class. And many of those jobs are going to illegals. The options for the middle class are becoming more few. You know how the middle class has coped with it's shrinking piece of pie the last thirty years? They've worked more hours, racked up more debt, and women have entered the work force. Well, those alternatives are running out and becoming fully tapped. And when they do, the only thing that will raise someone to middle class is a good education which, unless you're rich, will be provided and subsidized by the government... the very thing many of you seek to destroy. Have fun praying that you get that job at Mcdonalds or Macy's because that will be your option and chances are, someone will do that job for less than what you consider to be sustainable.

The American economy is not like a family budget. It's tempting to think it is, but it's NOT. One would think if you're spending more money than you're bringing in, you simply need to spend less. That is not the case with the economy. It's a balance of empowering those at the bottom and the middle to feed the machine so that it's self sustained. If you shrink government and get rid of social programs, you shrink the bottom. I understand many of you may not give a # about that but do we really want to support policies that put a huge % of Americans at the bottom? Doesn't that mean the system is broken? But I digress. The point is, if you lower education, infrastructure spending, social programs, and in the meantime lower the taxes on the rich, you have a bad formula in which the people who feed the machine run out of food for it.

I believe that big corporate business is capitalizing on the fear and anger of the day. They are doing everything and anything to sway public opinion to hate these new policies. When in reality, they are policies to help Americans have more money in their pocket. I'm not talking about the person who doesn't work and wants some government money, I'm talking about hard working Americans who receive a much smaller piece of the pie today than 30 years ago.

For example, Do you realize that time and a half, a guaranteed min wage, a 40 hour work week was all brought to you to protect the consumer after the great depression? You are asking for smaller government? OK, well many things including policies that are PROTECTING YOU from corporate greed will be eliminated if it's in the best interest of the bottom line. I'm appaled when I hear many of you asking for regulation on business to be removed. IT'S THEIR TO PROTECT YOU!!!!

But as my dad always said "A fool and his money will soon be parted." And I get the feeling you are all fools.

You just wait, when the cooperation's lobbying the American people and the government, win out, which I most definitely think they will, the flood gates will open, the middle class will move a little bit lower, getting an education will become harder, your kids wont have the opportunities we enjoyed (and often squander) because all of those initiatives will be eliminated in the name of freedom and liberty. Well congratulations you idiot, you are now free to wallow in self pity among your poor hungry fellows while the men you empower consolidate power and control thanks to good ole De-Regulation.

But anyways, back to the painting, the fact that he painted Ronald Reagen of all people as a caretaker of the middle class takes the cake. Any idiot with a computer can spend about 15 min reading an objective account of his actions while in office to realize that that jackass was the hand of big business.

Exactly what race is that?

Can I "reserve my right to choose" my race?

Alright Slay! I must say first, I'm glad to see your TRUE avatar back up. Too cool. 2nd. Mr. McNaughton is an
amazing talent. 3rd. While I can absolutely relate to the concept the artist is obviously trying to convey. As far
as what this forgotten man seems to be contemplating. It seems a bit melodramatic at the moment, at least for
me. However, with that said, I would immediatly point out that very soon, it could become more than appropriate.
Do I think Mr. McNaughton is a racist? Red light. No more than you or myself. Do I think this rendition seems racist. With caution. Yes. Has America had it's problems with racism? Green light yes. Since before it's
inception. I think this should be captured by the painting, just as it is. As a part of America ( PP and F).
especially in american politics.
We the people, of this planet are all guilty of racism. Unfortunatly it will always be with us. No way of irradicating
racism.
What can be done about it?
I believe the best thing we will ever achieve against it, as a human race? Would be when every single member
of mankind is able and willing to maximise his own prejudice, against his own racism.

Now with ALL THAT said as a white caucasion. I think the artist could have kept every bit of the message portrayed in his painting. Without missing an opportunity to send an even greater, some what interwoven
message if the young man was black on both sides of his family. I think everything would be there just as it is,
only so much more truth would be there. Before anyone comes at me with any kind of a retort or before anyone agrees with me, you need to think about what I just wrote. Think about what else could have been said with
the change I just mentioned.

Now there's a question that rises up from that. Why would someone with at least my level of intelligence
( believe me that's no brag) not think about that in the beginning before he started? The answer? He would have. Or why wouldn't he want to convey this deeper meaning in his painting?
He just didn't think of it will not suffice. I believe most extraordinary talent, possesses extraordinary intelligence.
Answer? Money! This is Media in one of it's oldest forms people. This messaage was most likely sponsered by
by one of the many occult ( meaning esoteric or hidden) societies that has it's fingers in everything to keep
U.S. divided.
There I said it.

Thems the rules.

Yep that's them.

My God I'd forgotten what a great speaker Reagan was. That was a great speech with out even listening to what he was say'in.
I'm impressed.

Since you offer no explanation why you want me to watch this, I can only assume you think it will stand on it's own. All I hear is Reagan arguing for smaller government in the name of freedom but anyone who knows Reagan's record knows that he de-regulated many sections of the government which protected people and the environment from being harmed.

Against the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, "What have you done?" Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.

I am not quite sure what to make of this yet.
But the looks on their faces is priceless

This is the latest controversial painting by artist Jon McNaughton. I have looked at this image for a long time. I had a rush of emotions which made me think long and hard about where our country may be heading if it's not already there. At first I just couldn't figure out which way I would post it. Finally, I decided to just simply stick it here and let my fellow members who haven't seen it yet take a look and draw their own conclusions.

Whether you are right or left is of no importance but understand that we as Americans have gotten ourselves into a pickle. I love that old saying. [ It doesn't matter how the Jackass got stuck in the mud, Just get it out! ]

In any case I can certainly sympathize with the guy on the bench these days.

Take a good hard look at the image and let me and others here know how it makes you feel and what you think.

Hey slayer, I went to the painters site to see in alot bigger. It has his explanation of his painting and also it has a neat function where your mouse icon when present over a piece of the painting shows it in a zoom window on the right. By using this function it helped me to see the faces and the expressions the body language and what was on the smaller pieces of paper (the amendments and the SS act etc.). The painter says that he isn't one side or the other in politics, but I don't believe him. You see on the left and in the back the presidents of old and Reagan looking concerned with the Forgotten Man on the bench. And the rest seem to be looking at Obama and Clinton and the two Roosevelt's. Then you have carter in the background having a look on his face like he's ashamed and Bush the second looking over at the Forgotten Man with concern. The painter is more right leaning than left and to say it all is Reagan being in the picture. He was so against the little guy and for the rich than any president.

The reason why he is the Forgotten Man and can be true is if you say that he is the white male of the US. That is the only way it can be interpreted when you look at it. He is saying what about the white male in this new world that is forming. There's the minorities, women, gays etc. etc. etc., what about the white males needs or issues. These presidents of old got this whole game started and they are seeing the conclusion of their actions. When the constitution was made, it was truly meant for land owning white males, slaves where considered 2/3 of a man. All the rest of the races and women where considered low on the totem pole. What did they think was going to happen when we had presidents that where going to make the nation more equal, it wasn't going to be business as usual. When you train a section of your population that it's the "chosen ones" and everyone else is alien, you sow propaganda. Then your reap despair, because THEY BELIEVED THOSE MEN IN POWER. And when the decades and centuries went by they kept believing it and didn't think nothing of it and then the world changed. And another reason why I say that the Forgotten Man was really meant for us whites is this. The black man was a man wasn't he, the hispanic man was a man wasn't he, so why did it take so long for us to consider these men the Forgotten Man. The couldn't get good jobs forever and a day, they couldn't go to the schools they wanted, they where essentially disenfranchised and on and on and on. The painter my think that the Forgotten Man is every man in white form, but I believe subconsciously and consciously he meant the white man.

So us whites having a bad day and it's the end of the world, but when others are having a bad day its nothing. We thought that we should always have the good day and everyone else get the rest. What is happening in this new world is that they are making people more equal, and that means putting everybody at almost the same level as each other. So if your on a higher level at 65% and everybody else is on another level that is the remainder of the 100%, then the 65% will have to come down and the 35% will have to come up. I do agree with him that many of our rights are being trampled, but as I stated before this sick game was started long ago before today and what we are seeing is presidents that can't stop the system, but can only try to manipulate and maneuver it to where you want it to go. That is why it looks as if the presidents and some in congress don't seem to know what they are doing.

So those old presidents pointing at the new presidents and acting concerned about this Forgotten White Man, should do one thing. They should point the finger and dirty looks and posturing to each other, because they set this game in motion. They sowed the seeds of propaganda and we are reaping the fields of despair.

"A picture is worth a 1000 words" - however here we have something open to the perception of everyone. Now obviously there will be a dominate belief about what the image in the OP is speaking to us about.

I really don't have much else to add right now I'd like to do some more reading up on this before I make a larger comment.

Good post nonetheless S&F.

Everyone will have a different interpretation of this picture but to me it screams racist.

Racism really?... Look at the men behind Obama...it INCLUDES BUSH, BILL CLINTON AND SEVERAL WHITE MEN.... Obama is at the front for the obvious reason that he is THE PRESIDENT NOW....

But of course Obama fans have to bring up the racist card like they ALWAYS do...

The rich elites KNEW that many Americans would get behind Obama SIMPLY BECAUSE OF HIS SKIN COLOR AND FOR GIVING A PROMISE OF CHANGE... But NOT ONE of the Obama fans was smart enough to ask "what change are you talking about?"... You all got stuck in the color of his skin, and in his empty promises of change.

You know what I find most ironic of all?... Everyone who is in the left has been against the war, yet when Obama told you that he wanted to MAKE A NEW ARMY IN THE U.S. you all applauded him as if that was one of the greatest ideas of all times... When he, and his officials like Rham Emanuel told you that EVERY AMERICAN WOULD BE FORCED TO DO SOME SORT OF MANDATORY WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT you all applauded him, and you agreed with the asinine claim that "that is what it takes to be an American"...

Since when does it mean to be an American to be FORCED to do what the government wants you to do?...

Yet every one of you Obama fans have been cheering for this man and his administration when they want to twist, and even destroy the U.S. Constitution and what it really means to be an American...

For me, and for MANY Americans if Obama, or another American of any race stood up for the Constitution WE WOULD HAVE BEEN BEHIND HIM, but instead the rich elites used the race card because they know that they could use it to claim that "anyone who opposes Obama is a racist", and that is the ONLY RESPONSE WE EVER GET TO EVERY QUESTION WE HAVE MADE REGARDING OBAMA...

From, "wait a second this goes against the Constitution" and always getting the response from the Obama fans and even his administration officials of "YOU ARE A RACIST", and that has ALWAYS been the answer to EVERY CONCERN AND QUESTION that has been made about the actions taken by Obama AND HIS ADMINISTRATION...

You people, Obama fans, don't even understand that you have fallen for the scam that was set up by the elites.

What will you tell your children when the U.S.A. is completely "changed" into a socialist dictatorship? Because that is the road the Obama administration and his officials are taking us in...

Reagan being portrayed, as it seems to me he is, as "concerned for the everyman" in the picture is insulting. Reagan is the ground-zero of the mess we are in.

Bush Jrs indifference is possibly fitting, though his boot needs to be on the Constitution as much as anyones.

In case you didn't know Reagan was a DEMOCRAT for most of his life, until he saw democrats/progressives do not stand for the Constitution.

Another thing leftists love to forget is that we are in the mess we are in because of WOODROW WILSON, A PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT...

Whoever controls the economy of a nation controls that nation, and that control was given to the rich banker elites by a PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRAT...

Woodrow Wilson was the one who signed the Federal Reserve Act, establishing the Feds, as well as making what the IRS is today.

It was Woodrow Wilson, a progressive democrat who signed away our economy to the rich bankers who are the elites... It wasn't Reagan...

Thank you for bringing this up for our viewing pleasure. Excellent find, Slayer.

To those who say this is "Racist" really should find a new hobby. If the only thing you can do is look at something on the surface, and see color, and only color, you simply must find a new hobby. There is enough mud in the water already, stop tromping through the pond. Look a little deeper then what you can see on the surface, color is purely that, and does not mean anything except color. We all bleed red, our bones are all white, and insides are all multi-colored.

I find the distaste for Reagan rather interesting.. "He touted for big business.. blah blah blah. " rather amusing.

Do we see what heavy laws, and heavy regulation do to our manufacturing jobs? WE HAVE NONE!

Reagan got the economy booming, and people jobs by easing the regulations on companies. As we increased the reulations and such, companies went over seas, with the help of NAFTA, because of the lack of regulations. (And for those of you who are going to say we need CO2 emissions down and such, I tell you.. GO PLANT TREES and BUSHES THEN!).

JFK was assassinated because of his June 4th, 1963 EO 11110, which basically stripped the ability of the Fed to loan us money with interest. That is my belief of why he was "dealt with" on Nov 22nd, 1963.

The Forgotten man: That is all of US.. YOU, the guy slaving away at his job, day after day trying to make ends meet. The family standing in line for a meal at a soup kitchen. The child in foster care waiting for someone to love him. The poor man and his wife, sleeping in an ally. The Military people, defending our freedom over-seas. The person who is in the middle of loosing his house. The kid struggling through school in hopes of a better future. The retired, the disabled, the sick, the hungry, the poor. The Forgotten Man represents EVERY Man, Woman, Child. Irregardless of race, color, or creed. That is YOU sitting there. And if you can't associate with that man sitting there on the bench, because he's wearing nice cloths, or because he's a certain skin color or not. Then I suggest you sit back and THINK about it for a few minutes, or until that light-bulb CLICKS.

It you look at the painting, it is interesting to see how he has laid them out. Constitutionalists on the left, and Progressive, take your freedoms away, socialist state types on the right.

I find this painting to be rather accurate as to our current situation.

For those of you who have NOT taken the time to look at the link Slayer provided in his OP, where you can mouse-over the many, many items in this Artists painting, I urge you to, especially before posting.

Wake-up, my fellow Americans. The hour is fast approaching. When will you realize that, this isn't working in it's current mode, and there are millions upon millions suffering. Here, and over there, and all over, because of what is going on HERE.. When will you realize that WE are suffering HERE.

There is no perfect system, there is no system that will make everyone happy. But the damn thing is broken as it is, and it needs fixed, and very, very soon.

Sadly, this picture isn't simply about 1 person, or one party. The painting is showing the WHOLE thing, and the mess that resulted from it.

It's not a single man that caused the whole mess, it's a whole slew of events.

It's the simpletons who blame it all on the current puppet.

There are much darker things at work behind the puppet then we currently see.

"There is a government with in the government, and i don't control it" - Bill Clinton.

The system is BROKEN. Who is driving this burning bus down a dark hole, I don't know. IT MUST BE STOPPED!

and no an "election" isn't going to fix this either. Oh no...

Frankly, it just looks like more anti-Obama propaganda. Reagan, Bush Jr and Bush Sr weren't exemplary presidents in their own right. Come to think of it, every President from Nixon-onward has done nothing but contribute to the further erosion of the constitution.

I just find it ridiculous to have the constitution under Obama's feet. It's an insult to the past history of this country to take all these troubles and pin them on ONE man.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, this man has every right to express himself through art and I reserve the right to criticize his "art".

Your narrow view, should have also shown you all those people behind Obama who, as you said were " every President from Nixon-onward has done nothing but contribute to the further erosion of the constitution." is standing pretty much behind Obama.

You see the tree, but do not recognize the forest behind the tree. Obama, is the man on the spot, currently. Behind him represents the past.

Not criticizing you, just pointing out that if you had looked beyond the man, you would have seen more..

As with it all, it's a long chain of mess. Obama is just the man on the "spot" at the moment, and he will fade to the rest of the pack when the next one stands in the spotlight.

I like your thinking, even if I disagree with your view of the artists rendition. =)
