He's right. In America, we are so quick to condemn other oppressive countries, particularly police states, communist states and/or authoritarian
states, yet we fail to see that we are no different. In fact, the only difference is in the type of chain that bonds us to our oppressors. What people
don't realize, is that the US has more political prisoners incarcerated than Cuba, the USSR and North Korea combined at the hight of each of their
reigns. Furthermore, we have more retrictive laws than even the most strict of police states. In fact, there are so many laws on our books, that it
would be impossible for a man or woman to read them all in a lifetime, yet ignorance of the law is not a valid excuse. What this really means, is that
at anytime, your "
owner" or "
master" can throw you in some dungeon somewhere and allow you to rot, though now you don't even have to
break the law to be thrown in a jail cell with the keys thrown away, due simply to the Patriot Act and HGTP Act.
When someone is imprisoned here the States for committing a so-called "victimless crime", they are indeed political prisoners. They are being
persecuted for political reasons or crimes against the State only, not against any person or persons.
We also like to condemn other countries like North Korea for their controlled media and lack of a free press but at least these countries know that
the message they are getting is state-sponsored. We on the other hand, are much worse off, as most of our fellow countrymen and women have no idea
that our media too is state-sponsored.
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." --Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Almost everything that we condemn other countries for, we are the masters of ourselves.
Torture? We got it.
Suspension of habeas corpus (lack of due process)? Check!
Lack of political opposition? That's us.
Lack of control over the government? We!
State sponsored media? We got it.
Government sanctioned assassination? That's us.
Militarized police forces? Check!
Demand of obedience to government? That's us.
Wars of aggression? Check!
Government intereference in the home? That's us again.
Personal choice replaced by government choice? Check!
Etc, etc, etc...
