Seventeen people have been killed and more than hundred injured as a powerful car bomb attack hit the central market in the city of Vladikavkaz, the capital of the republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

A plane with aid and medical help sent by Russia's Emergencies Ministry has arrived at the scene. The aircraft will take the 20 most seriously injured victims to Moscow hospitals.

This is still a developing story. Police say another bomb was found near the gates of a market. They are saying that the attacker was most likely a suicide bomber.

At the moment, it is not really clear who was responsible for the attack. The region has seem terrorism in the past. It could be religious related, or state related, but it is still unknown.
