I remember an issue of OMNI magazine had a series of photos from Paul Villa of a 1963 sighting of the exact same type of ufo:

Ziggystar60…..

Yeah, well, to be honest there appears to be considerable confusion on my part too, right now... The picture you posted in your OP, where did you find that?

It was in the same book (that is approx 40 years old & that I cannot find) as was this picture:

Australian UFO Photo: Saucer With Dome

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/0347cce2de06.jpg[/atsimg]
[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/29d8f7bda9eb.jpg[/atsimg]

As per the thread Australian UFO Photo: Saucer With Dome, this "UFO with dome" picture appears to have been a hoax picture made to dramatise a more credible report.

I can't see it when I click the link you posted.

That’s correct….. I cannot find direct links to that photo & the The Great Michigan UFO Chase of 1966. However as 1 example, reference is made to the photo in the same context as “the chase” here:

UFO Case Book Best UFO Pictures Page 2.

UFO Casebook states:

Washtenaw County, Michigan, 1966. This photograph is widely held as one of the best, clearest images ever taken of a UFO. Of course it has had its debunkers, but remains today as genuine proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life. Taken during a wave of UFO sightings in Michigan in 1966. This was snapped in Washtenaw County. There have been a couple of "colorized" versions, but this is the original. It made headlines in the Michigan papers, and then went nation wide.

I note that UFO Case Book has included pictures that I believe are not credible.

IS the pic related to "The Michigan Chase of 1966" at all?

Please see above.

Where is the source for the picture?

Please see above.

Who was the photographer?

I don’t know…..that’s why I started the thread.

When and where was the picture taken?

I don’t know…..that’s why I started the thread.

Sorry, but this is just too lazy, MMN....

Thank you, Ziggy.

I think the title of this thread should be:

"I am posting a random UFO pic without telling where I found it and without providing any background information whatsoever because I want to know what people think of it, and feel free to post pics of dogs with yo-yos so that we can make a big fat joke of the Aliens&UFOs forum at ATS".

Thank you, Ziggy.

Very cool Pic

I agree…..it is a ”very cool Pic”!

hard to tell if its a hoax the light from the sky bleeds onto the craft and there are no visible lights in the pic.

Yes…..the context is poor.

I know some don't like Witness testimony, but when multiple witnesses see the same thing and something like this where there drawings match down to the texture detail makes me believe in the incident or sighting.

The problem is, there appears to be some variance between the witness reports & the appearance of the “object” in the photo.

I do know everyone has their own opinion but that is also what is so great about witness' you can take all the perspectives and usually get a clear picture of weather its a collective story being told by all involved or these people really saw something and they dont know WTF it was so they go to the police and tell their story

I agree…..witness testimony is of critical importance in such cases.

does anyone know if these witness were questioned by Hynek

According to the report as per The Great Michigan UFO Chase of 1966, Hynek was “on sight” for less than 3 hours & attributed everything to prosaic causes including “swamp gas” & “teenagers with flares”. Specific mention is not made pertaining to Hynek questioning witnesses, but one would imagine there would have been some element of that, even if very cursory.

I am just learning about him so forgive my ignorance.

As are all of us!

InvisibleObserver.....

If your interested the book is called, Unexplained Michigan Mysteries, by Gary Barfknecht.

Thank you.....I shall look into that!

Here is a link to a bigfoot/UFO researcher in the area, Lisa Shiel. I don't know much about her, but you can contact her and ask if the picture you posted is related to the "Great Chase" incident, she might know.
backyardphenomena.wordpress.com...

Thank you also for that info!

I might also e-mail Bill Chalker, if we don't figure it out in this thread.

Unfortunately, this particular series of Villa photos from Mexico appear to be a hoax…..

I cannot see where the Villa pic’s that resemble the Michigan UFO have been debunked in this manner.

Atrofi.....

Yes.....you are right!

Look at the tree just below it.....

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/5decbdc8a888.jpg[/atsimg]

So.....

It seems that UFO Casebook is wrong again.

This makes more sense.

Now.....did Villa hoax these photos, as per his hoaxing of the subsequent series posted above?

The 2 series of Villa photos look very different.

Perhaps he hoaxed the second series because he enjoyed the attention he received from the first series, which could have been real.

I shall do some more reading!

Ram.....

I hope Villa's first series of pictures ISN'T a hoax.

However, it doesn't look good when it's known he hoaxed his second series of pictures.

But.....let's not "throw the baby out with the bathwater".....I'll do some more reading.

Kandinsky.....

I see what you mean.....he's done it across 10 threads

Based on that & his posting during the past few days, I think he might be doing it a bit tough.....

Oh well.....

Back on topic......

Do you have an opinion or definitive info pertaining to the first series of Villa photos?

Hiya MMN, I've got a simple opinion...

'Throwing the baby out with the bathwater' is exactly what anyone should do when a hoaxer is caught out! Ufology has more than enough to focus on without pondering about the honesty of proven liars.

Ufology is often too much like politics. The deceitful and the dishonest are always allowed second chances. I say 'screw 'em!'

Hrm...that image does bear a striking resemblance to this image, from The Battle of L.A. circa 1942.

Probably just a coincidence, though.
