(RTTNews) - The Colombian government has accused Venezuela of harboring Leftist guerrilla groups which Bogota has outlawed. Outgoing President Alvaro Uribe's office said in a statement on Thursday that its intelligence agencies had gathered irrefutable evidence that the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the smaller National Liberation Army (ELN) had set up camps in the neighboring country. Colombian Defense Minister Gabriel Silva said he had information about FARC leader Ivan Marquez holding a meeting of rebel leaders in Venezuela. Two dozen Leftist guerrillas were killed in joint raids by Colombian Police, Army, and Air Force earlier this month.
CARACAS, Venezuela, July 16 (UPI) -- The Venezuelan government has recalled its ambassador to Colombia in reaction to charges it allows Colombian rebels to operate in its territory. The foreign ministry said the charge is a "desperate attempt" to drive a wedge between Venezuela and Colombia, the BBC reported.
