Thai Forces, Protesters Clash In Bangkok

"This is a very tense and intense standoff," CNN's Arwa Damon reported. "There is row upon row of riot police."

Live ammunition and rubber bullets were being used by security forces, according to Damon.

The Erawan rescue agency said eight protesters were injured in the clashes. One soldier was killed by friendly fire, police said.

Riot police and government troops had massed along a major highway to stop the progress of an anti-government convoy headed toward a location where demonstrators...

Looks like the big push to end these 7 weeks riots has begun. From the beginning government troops are using guns to disperse demonstrators from their fortified positions.

Everything is possible from now - negotiations have been ended and now there is only one aim - defeat the enemy.

I just hope this stops demonstrations once and for all. I hope casualty number will stay in minimum, and redshirts understands soon that they cant win this fight. Army wont move without king giving his orders - and army is on the move now.

Thaksin should stay in his new home country forever, and stop his bloody funding for these riots.

Thaksin, your game is over.

Of course our programmed to be binary mindstates get confused between leaders and ideas - the two aren't necessarily linked. Its a shame these people have been taken for a ride. The news hardly ever reported what they actually wanted besides putting the old dude back in power... If only that had some direction and fresh leadership this whole thing would of gone differently.
