Awakening II: Free Cities

The NWO is destined to fail at some point in the future. Whether they end with a few months of soft-NWO 'announcements' before going out with a whimper, or a thousand years of darkness and slavery for mankind, their downfall is unavoidable. Every structure built on lies eventually collapses of its own weight. Any twelve-year-old history student can tell you that. No matter how well they think they have it sewn up, the laws of history and nature will overtake them. This post is about the inevitable future that will come, in two years or two-hundred, regardless what wars, plagues and economic collapses try to manifest themselves in the meantime.

I will make another documentary out of this. Don't bother with accusations of daydreaming until you've read the whole thing through. From the 'conspiracy' underground, in 2009 alone; WWIII with Russia or China, Obama's assassination by white supremacists, bloodbaths in the Middle-East, billions dead from Swine Flu, nuke attacks on major western cities have all been daydreams too...

Type I Cities

- Never paying rent again.
- Drinking water taken straight from the air.
- No loans, no interest, no debt.
- Free concerts, free entertainment.
- Free BEER.

Is this a naive daydream or an easily attainable reality? What's the catch?
What will the next fifty years bring? Hover-skateboards, super-powerful Iphones and cyber-entertainment are all pointless luxuries if man is still in debt and scrabbling for basics.

The fact that the great cities of Earth are polluted, crowded, stressful hellholes is not a result of large scale building, but a badly thought out economic and industrial system. There are many ways out of the corner society has backed itself into.

Human beings are drawn to large cities. Imagine Shanghai, Madrid, Mexico City, London, Tokyo without the rat race scrabble for rent, food and useless goods. Imagine clean air, cheap technology providing abundant food and water, and sane debt-free economic systems.... all achievable within a few decades with intelligent grassroots or political leadership.

This documentary will show how to build a sane, livable city from scratch. In the future, more and more cities will be needed to make room for more inhabitants. In order to avoid placing a strain on supplies, it makes sense to set up cities that are intelligently managed, self sustaining from the start. This is not communism, socialism, or any of the other nightmare systems of the 20th century. This is a genuine free-market economy with abundant basics for all. Entrepreneurs and free thinkers are encouraged and rewarded, people who need more help are not punished, but given useful jobs as workers and providers of food and raw materials.

This is a freely distributable blueprint designed to focus awareness and excitement on the many possibilities for the future. If man ends up living in cities like this...

Hopefully, cities in this blueprint can end up being built worldwide. Funding could be sourced a number of ways. Once the benefits of living in a new city are fully understood there will be a rush of investment to any new development. For example: 10,000 people giving 100,000 dollars each, or 100,000 giving 10,000 euros a piece gives the developer an easy billion to work with. There are many other ways around the money trap. For now we just offer this film as a copyright free blueprint for anyone to work with.

The ideas contained here can be applied at any scale. While an entire city may be a few years away, it is easily possible to make a self-sustaining house, street, village, block or suburb. The two key ingredients are 1) A plot of land bought outright, and 2) Minimal technology to provide basics.

What are the main sources of stress and unhappiness in any town or city?


- Debt
- Rent Payments
- Food and Water
- Crime
- Overwork



Debt Fear will not exist in new cities if they are intelligently set up. Every inhabitant can outright own their plot of land/house, or be living on an invited temporary working holiday. This is not such an unrealistic aim, if the land is bought outright with enough start up money. In a free-market economy, currency will exist, and be created on a colonial scrip or local currency model, with NO interest and therefore very little inflation. Money and power can circulate unendingly in the city and not be drawn into a high interest black hole.

Colonial scrip, were "bills of credit" created by the government, based on the credit of that government, and this meant that there was no interest to pay for the introduction of money. This went a considerable way towards defraying the expense of the Colonia governments and in maintaining prosperity. The Governments charged low interest when it loaned out this paper money to its citizens, with land as collateral, and this interest income lowered the tax burden on the people, contributing to prosperity.

The currency was born when a lack of gold and silver in the Colonies made trade hard to conduct, and a barter system prevailed. One by one, the Colonies began to issue their own paper money to serve as a medium of exchange to make trade vibrant. The Governments could then retire excess notes out of circulation by taxing the people, helping some colonies generally avoid inflation. Each colony had its own currency and some were better managed than others. It was banned by English Parliament in the Currency Act after Benjamin Franklin had explained the benefits of this currency to the British Board of Trade. Outlawing the circulating medium caused a depression in the colonies, and Franklin and many others believed it to be the true cause of the American Revolution.

Rent Fear will not exist in a new city. Home owners will be that, actual homeowners who have earned their house from either an outright payment or the provision of a skill.

Food and Water Fear will not exist as each house will be capable of providing adequate or even abundant food for itself using advanced home agriculture systems .

Crime Fear will be eliminated or minimised as the majority of the causes of crime are removed from the psyche of the city.

This is not communism or socialism. It is not a centrally planned city with state intervention in every aspect of life. It is a free market, debt-free, metals backed economy with free basics for all. Man has been around for at least 200,000 years, if not millions. Debt descended a few thousand years ago ******. Equality and justice in a new city doesn't come from a hyper-powerful bureaucratic class, but an intelligently planned system that balances care for the weak with rewards for pioneers.

Thinking from the ground up, house by house, block by block.

Instead of taking a birds eye macro view and getting overwhelmed by all the daunting questions, it's much better to visualize the city from the ground up: first a house, then a street, neighbourhood, district, town, city. If houses can be made to be self-sufficient on an individual scale, they would make a strong economic bedrock, it then follows that the entire city could be made to work. Just as the weakness of modern society is due to the centralisation of energy, food, water and essential goods production, the strength of future societies will rest on decentralisation and household sovereignty.

Anyone glancing at a list of population milestones and cross referencing with war or famine can see there is not correlation between mankind's self inflicted pain and population size. During the Dark Ages the world population was only a few hundred million. The drain on the world's resources would have been far smaller than it is now but still man still inflicted all sorts of torture on his brothers. The problem isn't resources, as a million green inventors will tell you, it's mismanagement and stupidity.

The antidote to all this madness is the self-sustaining house, block and city.

Sovereignty

Land

Land can be bought outright... The 'city' can be any size, from a few hundred houses to a million plus inhabitants. Argentina and Australia are especially good places to buy real estate due to their large amounts of free land.

Meat will largely come from sustainable city farms where animals are treated 'humanely'. Rabbit and Goat farms are far more sustainable than beef, pork or chicken. In the long term, however, one of the research aims of the cities department will be to make safe, organic, non-soy, non-GMO synthetic meats.

Stored Food

Dehydrators, Canning, Picking and other food preservation methods will be provided in every house. Food storage should be undertaken as a matter of course, not in fear. By just setting aside 10 per cent of a weekly food supply per week the city could quickly build up vast stores of foods. Food preservation/storage would be a full time occupation. Anyone can see from the figures that even a crowded downtown area can provide a surplus of food. In order to avoid quotas and an invasive bureaucracy, healthy, friendly competition can be organised between streets, neighbourhoods and districts to see who can provide and store the most food.

Abundant Water from the air

Each house will have an Atmospheric Water Generator that can provide 20-30 liters of water daily, more than enough to account for drinking needs. On top of that, larger units will be provided in every street. Providing AW for every house is no large task with units at 1000 dollars or less. Electricity can initially come from outside cables, and later from sun, wind and geothermal.

Energy

The aim is to make houses as energy self-sufficient as possible using a combination of:

- Sustainable Power
- Energy Efficient construction.

Homes can be constructed to conserve power but there will be no government intervention, green taxes, eco-guilt, or punishments for high consumption, because some, and eventually all energy will be provided using wind, solar, solar thermal, and geothermal electricity. Instead of an army of control-freak green inspectors with clipboards there will be a wave of entrepreneurs, inventors and mechanics improving, and refining affordable solar and wind power.

There are many modern methods to construct homes. As I draft this piece in Gmail, a thousand adverts are popping up, new technologies I've never heard of. Some will be rip-offs, some impractical or too expensive, others will go worldwide within decades.

All of these are quick overview of sustainable, realistic, inexpensive construction methods that actually save money. The sad joke is that solar and wind energy, new construction methods, energy efficient homes, atmospheric water and hydroponic farming are all cheaper than current methods, they have just been sidelined for the sake of profit.

Immigration

The city can abide by the laws of whatever state it is in but ideally will have a degree of private control over immigration. The visa department will consist of two sections:

Applications- accepting a broad range of applications for various positions.

Headhunting- finding and inviting talented and motivated professionals for short or long term stays.



Immigrants can be made up of four main groups.

1) Founders-Have provided significant start-up money.
2) Skilled Immigrants- Doctors, Teachers, Tradesmen, Entertainers, Farming Experts.
3) Inhabitants of the host country- The city can take pressure off deprived areas.
4) Worker Immigrants- From all over the world, immigrants previously headed for slave labour in the industrialised world can come to the city for vastly improved working and living conditions.

On intake, the groups will be separate, but in the city itself there will be no distinction made between them. A founder provides food and water for himself and trades the rest just like an immigrant. There is no slave class nor is there a parasite class. This is not communism. Free market trading, diversity, individuality and entrepreneurship are encouraged, and made all the stronger by being founded on a fear-free base of free food, energy, water and shelter. Entrepreneurs are free to experiment in the knowledge that they have a safety-net. A tiered society will not develop because the forces that cause inequality and competition have been minimised.

In 'The 80/20 Principal', Richard Koch notes that 20 per cent of individuals stimulate 80 per cent of the changes in society. If a high proportion of these types can be attracted to the city, it can become a success. It is hoped that the location of new cities plus the attractive lifestyle will eventually draw many people.

Recruitment will be done quietly and unobtrusively, on selected Internet sites and through any medium that attracts a high percentage of positive and adventurous people.

Who designed the forty-hour five-on-two-off work week of western society?

Rent, Electricity, high food and water prices keep much of the population struggling for basics. Unhappiness and malaise keeps the remainder struggling for luxuries and cruises. What would happen if the struggle for necessities and useless luxuries was removed, if people just jumped off the hamster wheel onto solid ground?

City planners will make no stipulations, but it is hoped that the city can efficiently run itself with a work week of approximately 20 hours. After signing a contract for 3, 6 months, a year, two years- each profession will be provided with a home including free energy, water and abundant growing technology in return for contributing 20 hours in their skill or trade. Other basic necessities will be provided or can be bartered for. Silver or another physical commodity can be used if a currency is needed.

Examples

A yoga or Tai-Chi teacher can provide 20 hours of classes per week to the local community, either in local classes, to schools and factories, or home visits.

An electrician is contracted to make 15-20 house calls per week, and provide 3 hours of tuition at a college.

A musician plays 2-3 concerts per week and provides 10-12 hours of classes.

A doctor or acupuncturist agrees to see 20 patients in one week.

In debt-centered society, workers are kept to the grindstone by fear of lack of food and shelter. When these fears are removed, when food, energy water and shelter are easy to come by, would society stagnate? The truth is, we don't know. An experiment is definitely worth a shot.

How would the city make sure society didn't stagnate???

-First, by recruiting highly motivated individuals who have attained a degree of success in their lives, who genuinely enjoy their job. The likelihood is many would work more than 20 hours.

-Second, an awareness would gradually take hold that the individual is serving and contributing to his local community instead of local bankers.

-Third, contracts would be initially short term and performance based. Under-performing workers would not be able to apply for renewal.

-Fourth, Healthy competition will be encouraged between professionals to provide the best service.

-Fifth, Work is a place to interact and make friends. With only 20 hours work per week may find that people want to go to work, especially if it is at a job they like.

Comments that 'most people' are lazy and slovenly come from pessimists projecting their own weakness of spirit. Laziness in debt-based societies is caused by 1) The knowledge that someone else is profiteering and parasitising from the workers. 2) A sense of hopelessness as only the ruthless few can climb to the top of the control pyramid. 3) The ever present quiet threat of surveillance and harassment of dissidents.

Why are people afraid to talk on the phone in a supposedly free country?

Why is someone who wants natural health-care, an end to foreign intervention and wars, fair currency and honest government an enemy of the state?

In extreme cases the ultimate deterrent to laziness and dishonesty would be expulsion from the city. It is only the debt based artificial scarcity model that has caused the 'every-man-for -himself, dog-eat-dog' fog currently hanging over modern society. Hopefully this would never have to be used. Human beings are naturally social contributors. They adapt to the general mood when entering any gathering- a festival, carnival, club or party. Good leadership and a high percentage of positive individuals would help to ensure that the dominant culture was that of contribution and cooperation. Scratch the surface of any street hustler, burglar or credit salesman and 8 times out of 10 you will find someone who would prefer to live in peace without hurting or taking from others. With a bit of technology and ingenuity, it's not difficult.



Some of the Main occupations can be:

Education: School Teachers, Craftsmen, Teachers of Trades and Skills, Sports Coaches.

Entertainment: Musicians (could provide a mixture of music and lessons), DJs (Radio and club)
Cinema managers, Comedians, Dancers, Independent filmmakers.

Hospitality: Hoteliers, Pub owners, Restaurant Owners.

Transport: Drivers, Mechanics.

Tradesmen: Electricians, Carpenters, Mechanics
Plumbers.

Security: Security Guards, Police, Firemen.

Healthcare: Doctors, Nurses, Hospital workers.

Research: Scientists, Health researchers.

City Council: Minimal- mainly elected, unpaid volunteers.

Various: Food Dehydrators, Food Preservers, Waste disposal.

The following occupations would be minimal or non -existent. Lawyers, Bankers, The Credit industry, Landlords, Civil Servants.

The city can have strong rewards for hard work and a solid bedrock for the less advantaged. The most menial jobs will be driving, city farming, making essential goods and cleaning- all at twenty hours a week. All members of society can contribute in a meaningful way. The sick can contribute to think tanks and online expansion. No one needs to feel useless, a burden, unwanted.

How to deal with an expected flood of immigration?

The short term answer, unfortunately, is to have high security and immigration checks. It is possible that floods of immigrants may try and enter the city.

The long term solution, instead of hoarding all the knowledge in one city, is to expand outwards and provide a step-by-step consultancy to any developer or group who wants to develop a similar model. Documentaries and guidebooks can be made of each aspect of construction, from government planning, to acclimatisation, to government to healthcare. Developers from worldwide could come to view and learn about the city. This could provide an important source of income.

The 'luxuries' of the previous world -leather cases, expensive perfumes, expensive liquors.... would be replaced with the luxury of free time, good food, good company, free restaurants, free education and free entertainment.

Eating Out Forever

Initially, restaurants would be encouraged to provide a high percentage of raw or lightly cooked food to minimise cooking costs. Later, renewable energy would mean there would be no guilt and no limits to power used for cooking.

Three New Ideas:

- A chef who owns his home outright and pays no rent.
- Freely provided locally grown food.
- A rent free restaurant location...

...one of mankind's long held wishes, a free restaurant becomes an easily attainable reality. Why not?

Everything from the highly talented street cooks in Asia to small Latin American restaurants to French and Italian, Russian and beyond could be provided for free, for anyone, forever. Wanting to escape a low-paid existence, chefs and cooks from all over the world may compete to gain a place in the city.

"No way, a free restaurant is an impossible pipe dream."

Wrong. The land for the restaurants location and chefs house is bought and paid for outright. The food is provided abundantly all over the city, grown from heirloom seeds. Energy comes from the sun or wind. The chef, previously working a back-breaking 60 hour week is now happier working a humane schedule.

It should be apparent that it is possible to exist in this city with little to no money. However, the money free existence doesn't come from a socialist super-government, but the free-market free-basics economy itself. Barter Areas can be set up both in community locations and on the Internet, plenty of example sites already exist.

Argentina survived an IMF induced economic collapse by setting up Barter Club, a small group that eventually grew to millions of members. The club issues credit notes, but crucially no interest is charged.

The Crédito was an interest-free currency and was pegged to the Argentine peso, which in turn was pegged to the U. S. dollar at the time. An estimated $400 million in goods and services were traded in 2000.

The system was used all over Argentina and worked reasonably well for a time but, as things worsened in the formal economy, more and more people joined the RGT clubs, and a growing percentage of people spent their Créditos without offering sufficient skills or trade in return. The system suffered from hyperinflation and from counterfeiting. Between 2002 and 2003 the government made unemployment insurance available to 2.5 million people, compared to 0.2 million people previously, and thereby increased the availability of the peso to the population stratum using the Crédito, which had an 89% preference for Pesos over Créditos.

Argentina is also a good example of how economic stagnation can take hold in any system. Barter in new cities can follow their proactive example and learn from their mistakes. Crucially, barter systems in new cities will be different from the Argentina model as there is a solid foundation of paid-rent, abundant food and other necessities. Secondly, there will be a focus on highly skilled individuals and education, to prevent an influx of unskilled workers. Any unskilled worker passing immigration and arriving in the city, instead of being forced into semi-slave labour, or the sex or drug trade, can be given a room and trained in a new skill.

The city can grow self-sustained block by self sustained block. As new immigrants arrive, an experienced team of foremen can guide and train construction teams. People having a hand in making their own homes is mutually beneficial for all concerned as development costs are reduced.

Large parts of the city may find they have little or nothing to do with money if they don't want to, instead spending time growing food, providing water, maintenance and enjoying life. A currency economy will develop organically, if this happens it is best to rely on silver or other commodities as a benchmark. Local currencies such as the Ithaca dollar offer a sound model. Some argue that it is inconvenient to have to exchange various local currencies for national or international trade. Is it really such a big deal. Currency exchange takes about 30 seconds with digits or paper, and is a far lesser evil than centralised banking and out of control debt. A system where the economies of entire agricultural countries rise and fall on the trades of speculators thousands of miles away is morally, intellectually and spiritually bankrupt. Local currencies also localize corruption as power is contained in a small area.

It will be the subject of many debates and vary from city to city, but whatever the final currency is it must be backed by something physical, more than blind trust. Ron Paul and Peter Schiff are probably the soundest economic thinkers alive today. As the outside world fights over paper, digits, derivatives and reorganised debt, the internal economies of new cities would have advantages in any economic conditions:

In downturns the city would have enough food, water and energy to buffer and even ignore the ups and downs of the outside world. With a team of competent mechanics and craftsmen there is no spare part that couldn't be improvised.

During upswings the cities massive intellectual and scientific capital would be a magnet for buyers. The city would accumulate resources and/or silver.

External Trade

The external trading group would be the most vital part of the city, staffed by highly motivated and intelligent individuals. External trade will take place on two levels:

1) Direct trade between individuals in neighbouring cities, mainly through barter and direct sales websites.

2) Large scale barters set up between the city and neighbouring cities, councils or companies. Direct bartering avoids the eternal pressure of interest and side-steps currency manipulations and fluctuations.

The City Has:

- Fresh Organic Produce.
- Knowledge based consulting.
- Advanced nutrition research
- Advanced sociological and psychological knowledge
- Medical Tourism
- Luxury Tourism
- Educational Tourism
- Advanced hydroponic knowledge and technology
- Advanced atmospheric water knowledge and technology
- Silver and other precious metals.

The City Needs

- Spare Parts
- Transport (Bicycles, electric vehicles etc)
- Seeds
- Building materials

It is possible to see at a glance that a favorable balance of trade could be easily achieved.

Example Resource Based Trades

- 1/4 ton of Mangoes for 5 electric bicycles
- A week of holiday for a week of work
- 20 weeks luxury apartment timeshare for 500 solar panels
- 100 hours consulting for 2 tons of construction materials
- Fully grown food in return for seeds.

The crucial point is that not all trades boil down to currency.

Other Sources Of Income

Tourism

A well built tourist infrastructure would be a huge source of income for the city. While internal trade is largely conducted with barter or resource based trading, debt cultists are welcome to pay with any currency as long as it is freely convertible to silver or other commodities. The city will accumulate foreign paper which can be quickly converted to precious metals or resources by the city trading groups. Time shares in luxury apartments could be traded with CEO's of companies in return for resources.

- Interest in these new city projects is eventually expected to be huge, so a syndicated monthly documentary covering everything from planning to daily life could provide a reasonable source of income.

- Research institutes, companies and universities could provide funding in return for premises or out-sourced research.

There are many other possible sources of funding. With a high percentage of entrepreneurs, a free flow of information and an open-minded and flexible city council, new ideas can be generated and implemented as often as is necessary.

Cutting Costs

It will be a full time job for some unskilled workers to make toothbrushes, cloths, bottles and other essential house hold items. As man wakes up from the corporate sleeping gas many new, organic and cheap ways are being (re)discovered to replace chemical products.

Resources for these will be grown (Industrial Hemp and it's 30,000+ uses) or traded with local cities.

Anyone who has packed a suitcase for a holiday knows how little a person really needs to live a content life. Living in new cities can be thought of as an eternal working holiday. People will never want for knowledge or excitement with the Internet, where nearly the sum total of man's knowledge is available. An organic, free market society with real world skills would develop. These societies have existed on Earth many times before, so these ideas are nothing new, just a return to sanity.

Transport

Transport will probably occupy a fair percentage of the cities start-up and day to day running budget. As the work week will be fairly leisurely, speed will not be an issue,so much as safety, cost effectiveness and renewability. Bicycles, Solar Motorized Bicyles, Motorised Rickshaws will roam the cities streets. With a rock solid economy, free taxis are a real possibility.

Electric Vehicles are the most likely choice for larger scale transport.

As usual, Wikipedia, Ecogeek and other sites are constantly updating with articles on super-efficent mpg models, operational algae fueled cars, 300 mile range electric cars and water fueled vehicles, the latter announced last year in Japan. What other suppressed technology will have leaked out by the time this film goes round the world?

Crime

The main causes of crime:

Struggle for basics.
Greed.
Frustration.
Stupidity.

Crime cannot be eradicated in the short term, but it can be minimized by cutting off its causes.

By far the biggest cause of crime worldwide is the struggle for rent, food, water and other basics. As the city provides free basics for all, survival crime can be sharply reduced. On the other hand, there are plenty of opportunities for restless minds to express themselves.

Greed cannot be eradicated from the human psyche. Driven individuals will be encouraged to work for the city, and be given good incentives to work for trading groups or other high-powered positions. The urge to excel is not a bad thing, neither is healthy competition, it just has to be channeled right.

Instead of a bloody scramble to the top of a rotten pyramid, or a supressive control system, lateral power structures will be set up and entrepreneurship can be encouraged. Individuals with creativity and ingenuity, instead of working out ways to maniupulate the existing system, can join think-tanks and create new domains of thought and action that never existed before.

Frustration is mimimized with dignified living conditions, stupidity with decent education and healthy food. The application/selection process for immigration will also ensure lowered crime.

There will probably be minimal need for a long term gaol. Far worse than a prison sentence would be permanent exile from the city.

Healthcare

The main causes of ill health are: Stress, Overwork, Depression and Anger, Toxic food. Free basics mimimises stress, as does a 20 hour work week. Dignified living conditions can hopefully mimimise toxic emotions, and all food will be organic and fresh. With little of no cars, air can be fresh and oxygen rich.

Many of the primary causes of disease are removed from the equation from the beginning. There can be an emphasis on preventative nutrition and catching diseases early. Education and personal responsibility can be a large part of the culture. The RDA for Magnesium is 400mg, Potassium- 4,000mg. Why is this not widely known? How many people have suffered from this ignorance?

A number of therapies can be on offer. Any sick person in the city can choose from a number of therapies...Pharmaceutical medicine will be welcome but only one of a number of therapies.

Government and Economy

The entire set up of the city is aimed to reduce and limit government. There will not be one person with a final say, instead a council of six men and women, and groups of district councils.The power structure will be as flat as possible, with only 3-4 layers....

There will be an emphasis on referendums and town hall meetings, and strong local rule. The number one deterrent against corruption is an aware populace, so citizens will be made aware that tyranny and awareness are directly opposed.

A psychological study of power and greed will be undertaken to understand and diffuse these psychological forces.

Science

The city will eventually become a scientific melting-pot, focusing on:

Anti-aging Research.(Realistic life extension)
Emotional balancing.(Breathwork/Nutrition/ Frequencies)
Law of Attraction research.(Subjective but legitamate)
Neurological changes during meditation.
Advanced Nutrition.
Superfoods and mystical botanicals.
Synthetic meat and meat substitutes.
Atmospheric Water.(Smaller and cheaper machines)

Science will be as open source as possible, public participation will be encouraged. Ivory tower elitism has led to a disinterested public and a science community that serves pharmaceutical giants and weapons contractors, or even worse, useless abstraction. Inventors and innovators will be given large amounts of funding.

Archive research and data-mining will play a large part in scientific research. Trawling through obscure publications for the masses of paradigm shifting info that has been published and ignored. Many of the so-called holy-grails and frontiers of science are just fake blinds and red-herrings dangled to pacify the public and set up cash cows.

Bear in mind always, that the great scientific discoveries of the past millenium have taken place using equipment that would cost less than 100 dollars in today's money.

Science will not focus on toys and pointless projects. If you want funding for your thesis on the mating habits of fruit flies, go somewhere else. Working on a back-to-the-future hoverboard while millions and billions live in misery is stupid beyond belief.

Science in new cities will be dedicated to solving the most pressing problems of mankind. It will not need billions or even millions for funding. The research aims are very modest. How fast will a community of a couple of thousand thinkers come up with new solutions to problems, given the correct cooperative framework?

Findings, ideally, will be shared freely A) As a matter of principle. B) To attract resources/grants/minds.

What's the Catch?

The catch is that this city doesn't exist yet, it is just a documentary about an idle daydream unless thousands of talented hard-working individuals get together and make it a reality. Like other great building projects of the last few decades, it is perfectly possible to make a city along these lines in under a decade. There is far more demand for better living conditions than for the glass and steel monuments to banking power that have been built all over the world.

This is just a short plan. Obviously, not every issue has been dealt with.The aim is to offer up the documentary to spark ideas and create discussion on the exciting future that could come about if enough people came together. There are millions of obstacles and issues, and billions of minds waiting to solve them.

The bad time will end and soon the debt suicide cult will be relegated to history like Heaven's Gate and other control freaks. These ideas for new cities will be ignored, laughed at, considered, planned and then acted on like every new idea. One day the endless scrabble for basics will turn into the endless quest for perfection as the final revolution, the revolution of awareness, reaches tipping point.

There's no timeframe. It could take anywhere between 2 and 200 years. While that 50's designer guy was wrong, life has changed immensely since then: Nanotech, Mobile phones,solar, wind. The one thing we haven't bothered doing though, is try to think of ways to minimise the rat race. See my other thread for the psychology of hoplessness.

The houses are fairly simple to build. First arrivals in the city could help build their own homes. Plus start up money would get you enough to fund workers for the first few thousand homes. Thereafter it could be a cooperative effort. I covered that in the thread.

Yup, I know- I covered that in the OP. I said the film was just a starting point for discussions. Business IS problems,and it would take a lot of collaboration to get this thing going. Eventually, it will happen though.

I really like what I am reading so far, mainly responding so I don't lose sight of this thread. S/F

I have thought of a similar idea like this for some time, however while removing money all together.

There would have to be leaders who would handle distribution of natural resources and manufacturing of goods.

Absence of money would be replaced by labour and benefit of a persons work to the community.

So, I work for so many hours, I am eligible for x number of goods.

If you look at the very causes of stress, money is the main contributor:

- Debt - not enough money. Owe someone interest.

- Rent Payments - Comforts of your home depend on how much money you make.

- Food and Water - Currently cost a lot of money.

- Crime - usually has to do with money, or items of value, unless mental i.e. revenge, chemical imbalance (either naturally or intoxicated), cheating, etc. Still, the root of some of these could be due to lack of money as well.

- Overwork - pursuit of more money.

I think people could find a career that they actually enjoy. They know they need to work to obtain goods and services. A person could change careers and fill in gaps in the economy. If the sewers are backing up because nobody want that job, then people as a community are responsible to fix it so they are not stuck in squander. However, one person's work hour is just as valuable as another persons. Each person is equally able to acquire the same goods for the same amount of work.

The only way you can succeed over your fellow neighbors is to work more hours. Working more hours provides good for you and the community.

I think it could work. At least try it and fix it along the way.

Many times i think that the success rate of radical projects as this depends completely how it's promoted. Much stupider ideas go through simply because they're forced or promoted until sick in the stomach.

A lot of these more conservative types will view this as "just another hippie utopia", even if they know the truth. Have TPTB shown any sign of critical thinking in the past 10 years?

Ideas like this should be pushed HARD, because there will be a strong opposition.

True, but it would only take a few thousand people to get the ballrolling. Look at the awesome stuff they're making in Dubai and Japan. My idea is actually far more doable.

Re: TPTB and thinking, no.... I realise that they won't be interested in this... although, behind the scenes, a LOT of them are waking up. I'm not intending to fight the opposition, just ignore them and do my own thing.

And yes, I want to make documentaries to get the idea out to as many people as possible. Raising awareness is the first step.
