Happy Cost of Goverment Day! Ha!

Well, Happy Cost of Government Day (belated)! Actually, it occurred on Wednesday of last weeek, August 12.

That's they day when you have paid off your share of the cost of running all aspects of gov't. Last year, it occurred almost a full month earlier, on July 16.

I can remember when it occurred in the month of May...

This year, it took you 224 days of work to pay for your gov't.

Did you get your money's worth?

Every year, the Americans for Tax Reform Foundation and the Center for Fiscal Accountability calculate Cost of Government Day. This is the day on which the average American has earned enough gross income to pay off his or her share of the spending and regulatory burdens imposed by government at the federal, state, and local levels.

In 2009, Cost of Government Day falls on August 12. Working people must toil 224 days out of the year just to meet all costs imposed by government - a full 26 days longer than last year.

In other words, in 2009 the cost of government consumes 61.34 percent of national income.

Interesting fact but so, so sad!

This year we needed 26 extra days compared to last year to pay off our share of government costs.

Its getting to the point of utter unbelievability.

Hey. C'mon now jso. They're merely working towards us achieving a goal of sorts...

... imagine next year when it falls on Labor Day ... oh the irony that'd be.

Give this administration another year and we won't have to worry about when this day will occur next year because every day will be Cost of Government Day.
