Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, Ky., told "FOX News Sunday" that it's not clear who's organized and who's not but that Democrats' efforts to "demonize" the protesters reflect weak spots in the substance of their plan. "I think attacking citizens in our country for expressing their opinions about an issue of this magnitude may indicate some weakness in their position on the merits," McConnell said. "And I also think it's particularly absurd for the Democrats, who have over an $8 million e-mail list over at the DNC called Organize America, to be criticizing citizens for being organized."

I am proud i voted for mitch.
He tell's it like it is.

There is a reason Obama's bunch is trying to demonize protester's over this.

The protests are REAL! These are REAL Americans voicing very REAL opinions. If some choose to organize, then that is their right. Others are simply speaking for themselves. The Democrats and the liberals have abosolutely NO right whatsoever to attempt to silence them. America has listened to the shrill (And often unreasoned) protests of the liberals for decades yet, enow they cannot seem to afford those same freedoms that they so demanded for those that oppose THEIR agenda. Very, very, very hypocritical!

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat. It has been long apparent to me that neither party speaks for me, represents me or has the over-all well-bing of the country at heart. I fear partisans as they consistently demonstrate a lack of logic and reason and immediately go on the attack then their "Party" is criticized. America would do well to trash these two parties and start anew!

Of course they think these protests are contrived. The American public couldn't possibly be smart enough to rise up and get mad!

I think it is real, the media just erred when they regurgitated the left wing accusations, when in fact, they are guilty of their own complaint.

Rather than answer the questions of these evil protesters, have a debate over the bill, and real public dialog, they left the people no choice by to examine the legislation on their own, and draw their own conclusions from it, and very little of it has been positive.... So that leaves them with all they can do and that is blame it all on some organized plot to have crazy talk radio fans show up to protest this plan.

The truth is that any open minded free thinking American who will actually study this legislation on their own would be highly inclined to be openly opposed to it.... And a great many have done that, and are opposed to it.

Generally most people (self included) believe that health care needs reforms and changes... This current proposed bill is so far beyond what is needed that it is just wrong... wrong plan period. Anyone should be able to see that if they'd just take the time to review it, and if you fully understand what this bill will do then if given the opportunity to protest it publicly you would likely do that... And of course you would also likely be accused of being a right wing radical republican puppet who just showed up because the republicans organized the event and invited you.

I think probably some are real and some are contrived. It's pretty clear that some are contrived. It's been exposed and discussed in this thread.

I only got about 550 pages read and had to stop. I really don't know what is in the rest of the pages. Anyone who reads 10 pages straight anywhere in the bill develops a read bad headache so I can understand and sympathise with the senators who don't, can't or won't read the bill. I really won't read the rest & you can't make me. If the town hall came to my area I'ld go (unorganized) just to pass the headache back to the guy (no ladies elected in my state yet).

To complain that these protests are contrived is so ridiculous. This is politics. Everyone thinks that they're part of a grassroots effort to take power from the racist right, socialist left, illuminati.... whatever. It's all contrived. All of it.

You are not smarter than everyone else, and more importantly, nobody cares what you think. Protests and demonstrations need to be organized. If they weren't, the guy going against the masses in these townhall meetings etc. wouldn't be taken any more serious than the people who show up with foil on their heads complaining about lawnmower fumes being used by the government for mind control.

This kind of sums up how I feel around here... www.xkcd.com...

If anyone knows how to put this in a post directly, be my guest.

This whole debate reminds me of what happened in the 1960's, when people protested against the Vietnam war and for civil rights. Just as people had the right to freedom of speech concerning those causes then, they should have freedom of speech now.

What I abhor, though, is the screaming to drown out the voices of those who may have a different point of view, which is pretty much what is happening in these protests now. The objective seems to be to act out a temper tantrum and shut the speakers up, rather than have a productive dialogue.

I didn't like these tactics in the 60's when anti-war protesters verbally abused servicemen and women, or when normally idealistic people began to shout down anyone with an opposing position or preached violence as a way of changing the country.

I didn't like those tactics then and I don't like them now.

Mitch, you sly ole fox. You know darn well what's going on, but then you didn't say you didn't know, you just said you don't know who's organized and who's not. True dat.

But while some conservative groups have encouraged people to show up at the meetings and let the lawmakers know about their opposition, recent polls suggest everyday Americans are indeed losing confidence in the administration's health care agenda.

Mission almost accomplished, Sen McConnell. First, activate angry citizens over irrational ideas (death to seniors!), now discuss whether this activation is real or not. Of course, this heads off any discussion of rational things. But then, that's the purpose of this disruption.

Sometimes it takes a lot of work to keep status quo, Sen McConnell, and keeping status quo is just hunky dory for those who continue to want a corporate health payment system. Afterall, there's a lot of money to be made...by corporations and those politicians who get bribes...donations...by them.

You support citizens angry for no change, but their disruptive tactics drown out any discussion by those angry because there's not enough change...or the change is being weakened. You're hoping it will all just go away.

Well, if you're right, your mission will be accomplished, and once again, American citizens will be screwed out of something better for them. You sure won't drag then kicking and screaming into the 21st cen. No, sir. Keep up the corporate control/censorship of discussion.

People organizing on their own, without the help of a community organizer? Blasphemy! Democrats cannot understand this at all, and when you don't understand something....you fear it. The fear is real!

This isn't better for anyone! If you think this is better for you then you need to GTFO and move to Cuba or China.

Hell, no, I won't go. See the copy of the U.S. Constitution I'm holding up...you can take it ... when you pry it from my cold dead hands. And my flag...these colors don't run.

Besides, there are travel restrictions to Cuba...I'm not Canadian.
And China won't want me...for every one of me here, there's probably a hundred there...
Also, Satan has a restraining order against me for being near Hell. He also told me not to worship him. So I can't go to Hell, either.

Sorry, but we got to live together in this one great nation that accepts both of us, unlike Honduras, for example.

As everything is always two groups or more honest and concern people and then is the interest groups that are catching out on the first group A third group will be those that are looking to start trouble no matter what.

The same thing that is happening now with protesters against bills by Democrats happens during Bush bills by Republicans.

What people needs to understand and watch for is how deceiving our for the people politicians are when they are tearing each others butts apart.

After all they always come out the winner while we the people get more laws to step on our rights to protest and be discontent with government regardless who is in power.

The same thing I said when Republicans were in Power I say now that Democrats are in Power, Be aware people be very aware.
