Wasn't really sure where to put this one. Move if necessary.

I'm glad to see that you (the reader) has made it through the horrendous DoS attack on Twitter. How you lived without the ability to Tweet is beyond me! (End sarcasm)

Most of you probably heard about Twitter being taken down by a 'hacker' or group of 'hackers' this morning.

A hacker attack Thursday shut down the fast-growing messaging service Twitter for hours, while Facebook experienced intermittent access problems. Twitter said in its status blog Thursday morning it was "defending against a denial-of-service attack," in which hackers command scores of computers to a single site at the same time, preventing legitimate traffic from getting through.

Oh noes! No social media! "Omg! Wtf m8! plz halp" were probably flooding IMs and MySpace comments today from the teens that couldn't read the latest from Paula Abdul, or Perez Hilton. As I read further down into this article, I found this little gem...

"I had to Google search Twitter to find out what was going on, when normally my Twitter feed gives me all the breaking news I need," said Alison Koski, a New York public-relations manager. She added she felt "completely lost" without Twitter.

To me, this quote signifies what is going to be the end of America as we know it. This is one of the most pathetic statements I have ever heard in my life, and to see that this coming from a professional...makes it even worse. This woman, most likely in her mid 20's to early 30's, is my generation. If she's that dependent on Twitter, I fear for the generation after me. You can read the rest of the article in it's entirety here.

This isn't the end of America because America is already over in the sense that you mean it. It's dead and the only thing left is the funeral.

Yep, its all part of the need to be in constant instant communication with the world at all times. Take away the average person's cell phone and they will be at your mercy, disconnect the internet and they will be mad with boredom in less than a few minutes. Its all part of this obsession with speed and convenience, we are ready to sell our souls to the next technological wonder. I personally refuse to get a cell phone for a lot of reasons, I've never visited Twitter and refuse too (mainly because if you turn on TV today its Twitter this and Twitter that)... I think that internet lingo and abbreviations are quickly destroying are language, seriously hang out with a few teens and see how many LOLs and OMGs they can cram into an actual VERBAL conversation, its frightening...

I think the next step is turning our brains into computers, attaching some sort of a computer into our brains, perhaps it might even work remotely from outside the skull. The device would turn your brain into a computer with internet access, you'd have all the power of a computer except you'd be seeing it all within your minds eye. In fact this computer might be implantable on your pineal gland, the surgery to implant it would leave a MARK on your forehead. At least that's my theory...

I think there's something rather humorous about how fragile it all is, how a few hours without Twitter causes these moronic sheeple to pout and panic. Sometimes I wish it would all come crashing down and we could start over, our species has taken far too many wrong turns... But it will never happen barring an act of the divine it looks like the death of the English language and worship of technology, communication, and convenience will continue...
