Sapphire crystals may be the next material to transform the electronics industry, thanks to nanotechnology researchers who have announced a new way of storing data that would fit the contents of 250 DVDs on a coin-sized surface.

To me this sounds like great technology
yet I find my self thinking wow the superman movies had it right!

When superman took the crystal and put it into the holder and the movie of his father played.

I know it wouldn't but....
Makes me wonder just out of curiosity if they already have a "reader" for it what would happen if they took an already cut gem and see if it hold something. Like accidentaly put there from the cutting of it.
Sorta like the 100 monkey in a room typing Shakespeare, take grama's pendant and find out it holds "some how" the great American novel.

S&F. Important info.

Good question about the reader.

BTW - nanotech makes me very nervous, and nano-biobots scare the poop outta me. But I still like it. Go figure.
