In my research to find some kind of authenic source for the existence of the Dropa people who supposedly descended from marooned aliens who crashed to earth 12,000 years ago. Every lead to their story seemed to dry up, the same story retold verbatim. It was either a massive cover-up or it never happened. You can take people out of the country but the memories of the country remain in the people. The new lead is from The Republic of China Yearbook--Taiwan 2001 and it concerns a celebration that occurs every two years........ The Saisiyat habit of tattooing disappeared long ago. However, the Saisiyat in Miaoli County continue to observe a unique rite, the Ceremony of the Dwarfs, or Pastaai, once every two years in November. According to legend, a group of three-foot tall, dark-skinned dwarfs once taught the Saisiyat to farm, sing, and dance, but also harassed and threatened the Saisiyat women. The Saisiyat retaliated by inviting the dwarfs to a ceremony and then pushing them into a ravine as they crossed a narrow footbridge. The original purpose of the ceremony was to appease the souls of these dwarfs. This really does not strike me as the kind of thing a group of people would celebrate unless they felt a deep abiding need to do so. One would imagine a group of dwarf people that knew more than the "normal" people would indeed be noteworthy.
