Hi,

I tried a 6 paragraph reply in the General Conspiracy forum, one web browser demanded I add 300 more characters, another Using Firefox, it required 66 more characters. According to the character count, my post contained around 6000 characters and below 6500 as the max. So why does the forum software require I add 300 more characters? Until I do, the submit button won't work.

Oddly, I'm way below whatever that minimum is, here. And this sub-forum is allowing me to go below minimum (whatever that is)

Should I just add 300 dashes below what I post, to satisfy the website minimum?

Thanks.

That's strange. Before I started typing this reply, I only needed 100 characters and I'm using Firefox. The quota appears to be 100 on Internet Explorer as well. Do you maybe have an extension on Firefox enabled that might be mucking things up? That's the only reason I can think of as to why it wouldn't allow you to submit your post before.

I just had to answer to test out the new function ATS has applied to replies.
Just for the record

...
Dammit.. it just ate my reply

Nevermind.

(But it accepted my reply after 'record' anyway.

I use Fire Fox also and when I started this replay I needed 100 characters. The last time I made a post at ATS it was 200. Maybe the Bosses changed something?

If you reply using the "quote" button and then and then trim the quote by deleting paragraps, these deleted characters are added to the post count....

so the more you cut the more you need to write.....hope this helps

Yup, use reply if you want 100, any editing of quotes or the main OP will result in a higher character requirement.

I am loving this new ruled BTW, keeps the people who have nothing to say silent

This is ATS's way of testing the membership capacity for verbal diarrhea.
