The Learning Schemes

I have noticed that children nowadays are getting increasingly difficult work and homework to do, however their ability to do it suprises me as I wouldn't of been able to do it now!

My little brother is in his second year in high school and i noticed whilst he was doing work that he is doing the same work i was doing in the fourth year!
This has nothing to do with the work sets and abilities to work at a specific level as i was in the same set he was!

The learning schemes seem to be the same after looking back at some previous work, but there are much more complicated questions and readings!

Could it be that children are more Knowledgable than previous years? Or is it that the work schemes have changed due to the modern day issues at hand and the modern lifestyle?
