A real prophet, yet no widespread religion in his honour?

The majority of religions are based upon ancient texts that people believe tell an accurate story of the past. The texts are nearly all based on the lives and teachings of various "prophets" and the books generally make a number of future predictions. Of these predictions, none can really be proven 100% to be accurate, as words can be interpreted in different ways - if you look hard enough, you can see anything.

Nostradamus has hoardes of followers, people that endlessly study his works, looking for clues to the future and looking for events they can try and tie into his work. All the while, the world is unfolding in a distinctly similar way to the fiction book 1984, written by Orwell in 1949. The surveillance society, propaganda, false flag attacks, media control, mega states (eu, impeding american union etc). These are things written down in the book, in black and white, there is no need for people to look for connections, it is there for all to see.

Perhaps the reason Orwell isn't seen as a prophet, is because, unlike the prophets before him, he is undeniably accurate in many instances, . Orwell offers us no hope, he doesn't promise us a place in heaven if we are good, he simply describes a terrible world, a world that is becoming ever more apparent. Perhaps it is his brutal honesty that prevents people believing, his writing takes no prisoners, it has no heroes.

Im not saying Orwell will be correct with what is to come, but the signs are there. Whilst people worship and follow the advice of the fictional beings Jesus, God, Allah etc, hoping to prevent their ultimate demise, they ignore a man we know existed, a man whos predictions are all to evident. The difference is, Orwell's predictions give us a choice, they put our fate in our own hands, it is us that must take actions to prevent them coming true.

People are happy to rely on beings of which there is no evidence of existence, to save them, rather than rely on themselves. That realisation, makes me rather ashamed of being a human. We call ourselves civilised and intelligent, yet we believe in these fantasies, and kill others in the name of these fantasies. God help us indeed.
