Hey, I see where you are coming from, but look at each candidate's web site, then look at both party platforms, and then decide. YOu can't tell me they are both the same...because clearly after you do this, you absolutely see they are like night and day.

Folks don't fall this tired old play book trick that "both are the same". It's not true. Do your research.

…We are only free of the illusion because we have greatly desired to be so. I'm afraid that desire does not exist in the majority.

And it never really has. Think about all the iconoclasts that have emerged throughout history; Luther, Galileo, Bruno, Jesus, etc., they weren’t too popular in general at the time. When these, and other, luminaries were being sacrificed; how many people do you think were in the crowd, watching the pyre being built and thinking: “You know, that guy is probably right". Probably more than a few. But how many stood up and tried to stop the mob from having it’s barbeque? And of those that cheered the spectacle of watching an original thought burn to ash; how many were just too lazy or dumb to think about the issue for themselves? And how many of them were just too full of pride to consider that they might have been thinking wrong all their lives and so decided it was easier to let the fire burn away a troublesome voice of consciousness?

Things haven’t changed a bit. The majority always was, always is, and probably always will be a barrier to the truth. It’s far easier to accept, excuse and live with a bad habit or lazy mind than it is to try and change it. Denying ignorance goes against the human inclination.

"Close your eyes, and pretend it's a bad dream"

Seriously, that's how I get by.

In the decision 08 forum? I hope your comment gave you a much needed confidence boost.

What I see from many long time ATSers is this attitude. So one can immediately dismiss a thread because there have been some similar threads in the past. Obviously you are confused because you dismissed this thread while taking part in it.

No offense Dinstaar but I have to take issue with your hypothesis; that those who don't agree with you and believe that the American election system is rigged are ignorant or embracing ignorance.

Well appreciated criticism. Star

I shall quote my original post.

I look unto this board and all I see is 'Obama is a racist socialist' or 'McSame is a Bush clone'.

I will say that people who believe such things are ignorant or are embracing ignorance. I believe such statements are inappropriate and are based solely on emotion. My thread was created with the intent of creating a broader discussion in the Decision 2008 forum. The flame wars over Obama and McCain have been close to all the threads in this forum.

I wanted, at least, one place in this forum that reflects my, and many other peoples', beliefs.

But what you and the other authors of similar threads seem to forget is that many, if not all, of the major subjects presented on ATS are subjective and short of absolute, definitive proof that one side or the other is correct, different views of those subjects can be equally valid.

It's not forgotten. I know that ATS is user generated content. That is why I am generating it.

different views of those subjects can be equally valid.

Light is a wave
Light is a particle
It depends on with what you measure it. This is a true statement for some subjects but it does not hold true for others.
