The official word's not in, but the UFOlogists are saying that preliminary reports on the "chupacabra" skeleton found about Christmas day on Puerto Rico may be that of the "jutias" or "solenodon paradoxus" -- a rodent that was hunted by the Taino Indians for food. Its cousins live on others of the Virgin Island chains, but this particular creature was hunted into extinction before Columbus came.
