Iraqis are VERY superstitious about this kind of thing.
I was in Baghdad in 03/04 and we had a record amount of rain that winter. Many Iraqis were certain that it was a sign from God that they were entering
a period of re-growth, socially. Many felt that we had brought on a social spring time.
We actually saw a short decline in hostility for a time, possibly due to the optimistic superstition surrounding all the rain.
If rain was such a big deal, how much more will snow be.
